Looks like some solid talent will be there anyway... namely HS hitters.

That Brandon Shewmake pick not paying off?

In what world was Shewmake considered a "high upside SS type" when he was drafted?

I can't recall a single report about him back then that didn't strongly question whether he'd stick there defensively.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Which makes it all the more important for him to hit.

Why we drafting low upside players in the first round to begin with? I cant think of a single low upside high floor first round pick the Braves have had that wasnt an absolute dumpster fire.

I was asking the question. I havent actually been following Braves prospects to really know how he is doing.

If you're not following them, why poke your nose in and act like you have something to add to the conversation?

Try checking out milb.com every once in a while - you'd be amazed how many questions like that you can find answers for there. Probably wouldn't take much more time than typing those last two posts.

My overall impression is that he's performed about as expected, perhaps a little more so. but I wasn't really very high on him.

I can't read it, but Baseball America's new mock apparently has us taking Ryan Cusick, a RHP from Wake Forest. https://www.baseballamerica.com/rank...lb-mock-draft/

    24. Braves: Ryan Cusick, RHP, Wake Forest
Cusick has run his fastball up to 102 mph this spring, but his stock dipped somewhat when he posted a 6.46 ERA in his final four starts. The Braves also like McGreevy and Schwellenbach more than most teams.

If Del Castillo really does drop THAT far, I'd find it REALLY hard not to take him - another potential "quick to the big leagues Catcher" would potentially give you TWO Top 100 Cs to split time with Contreras moving forward.

If AA couldn't use one of those guys to expand a deal for a legitimate upgrade, you're not very good at his job.

He's college not prep, but would that qualify as the Braves finally adding a "stuff" guy (something that I've seen as a complaint recently)?

Keith Law's mock this morning had us taking Schwellenbach. Says we've been connected to him for a long time, and Law says we'd make him a pitcher. He's 6-1, 200 - Law says he has the stuff and delivery to start.

Callis also connected us to Mace (woof) on Twitter.

Not much of a surprise due to this front office's history, but seems pretty likely we're going the college route. Joshua Baez was the only HS player I've seen anyone connect us to, but most mock have him gone before our pick now.

    24. Atlanta: Spencer Schwellenbach, RHP/SS, Nebraska

Schwellenbach is a reliever and shortstop for the Huskers who’ll be a pitcher in pro ball, with the weapons and delivery to move to a starter’s role, and Atlanta’s been linked to him for a while now.

We could literally have a fan drawing every night where the winner gets to mange that nights game and we would still be better off. And yes even road games would produce better results.
