Needed today so much. The last week of everything Braves/Atlanta/All-star game has been a sucker punch to the gut. This team is too good get kicked around so badly, but maybe early season is our bane. Just glad we got a series win today. Feels good.

Sandoval was promised to make a big impact, but he has been yugggeee.

Last year we didn’t appreciate the gravity of the signing, but the ripple effect to this season has been huge.

Newk should flourish in the pen like he did in 2019. I've really wanted him to take the next step as a starter, given how good he was in 2018. But at 27/28 years old I think it's pretty clear what he is and what he isn't. I think he'll be force in the pen.

And to think a certain someone on here wanted to trade him for Tauchman and Dietrich a week ago....

Panda has probably already done more for this team than the rest of the bench combined will do in 2021.

I'm sure he wants to start. But there is no shame in taking the Oliver Perez career path.

I think the dude can become a closer - like seriously. I think he could truly flourish there...or at least be Johnny Venters and own the 8th inning....

I mean he was hitting 98-99 yesterday. If he could do that consistently, not walk people, and actually locate, he could be dominant.

Rumor is that they finally figured Newk out. They sent him to the mound and told him to pitch around all 3 guys. He couldn't find the outside of the zone.

This is funny, because this is the #1 comp I came up with for Newk years ago when everyone was arguing with me about his control not being good enough to be a SP.

On 4/3 Newk threw 18 FAs that averaged 95.2 MPH and 2513 RPM.

On 4/7 Newk threw 12 FAs that averaged 96.8 MPH and 2322 RPM.

Assuming those values are accurate between the Nats and Phils systems, I'm not sure which pitch is better. I'm going to guess it's all about location with Newk, as always.

Pitchers have often talked of losing some movement on their fastball when they crank it up.

The MLB At Bat app classified a few of his pitches yesterday as cutters. Looking at his Baseball Savant page, they're showing that he's thrown three cutters this year as well.
