    A lineup thought

So I was thinking about Freeman’s AB last night where they brought in the lefty. And then I was thinking wait a minute. The Phillies get to face lefty Ozzie and bring in a lefty to face Freeman. That doesn’t seem ideal. If Ozzie and Freeman switched Ozzie would get more PAs RH where he’s godly.

Seems like something for someone to think over

    That’s a pretty good thought.

Ozzie as a right handed hitter is definitely a middle of the lineup guy.

Snit would never allow it. Freddie is the most natural hitter on the team, so he must hit 3rd according to the baseball rulebook from prior to 2012.

Well, the best place for Ozzie to be hitting is 3, so that makes sense. Bringing in a LHP to face Freddie means he also has to face Ozzie and Ozuna. I bet that would make managers terrified of bringing in a LHP to face Freeman.

    You just invented double protection!!

Now find a guy who can hit at all to bat 9th with the pitcher 8th and the lineup is nearly optimal.

I’m 100% sure he knows the rule, and I’m 100% sure he’s incapable of using that information to inform his strategy. He knows Acuna likes to hit first, and Freeman likes to hit 3rd, and that’s all he needs to know to operate the sharpie.

The Rays have spent the last 2 decades showing the benefits of using players correctly at all times regardless of what the players, fans and announcers think they know. The rest of baseball is just having a hard time following suit, which allows the Rays to remain a step ahead.

Although that's funny, it might not be such a bad idea with Pache/Ender down there the way they're hitting right now. The once in a blue moon they reach would put an extra runner on for the top of the lineup. It's not like opposing Pitchers are likely to view one of our Pitchers hitting behind Riley much differently than they do Pache/Ender at the moment - there's at least a chance that the CFs take a pitch or two in front of Acuna and Freeman that might at least give them a better look at what they might see.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
