In another note, mlb had a story about the last player on each team to wear number 42 and Villareal's fellow countryman Armando Reynoso was the last Brave with that number. He pitched a grand total of 9 games from the Braves in 1991 and 1992, but went on to pitch in another 10 seasons.

In 2006 we gave 114+ innings to Ken Ray and Chad Paronto, for crying out loud.

You are too young to remember the extremely dark ages of the late-1980s when the bullpen featured guys like Charlie Kerfeld and Dwayne Henry and a cast (offs) of thousands.

Not as dark as the Preston Hannah/Todder Campbell era.

What would our record be without Ronald. His WAR has to be 5 right now since we only have 5 wins.

I started to wonder...what's the maximum number of HRs a player could ever somewhat realistically hit in a single season?

    This player would:

    - Bat often, and probably lead off
    - Rarely K
    - Rarely BB
    - Hit a lot of FBs
    - Have a lot of FBs turn into HRs

So, looking up the MLB leader in all those things back in 2019...

    PAs: Marcus Semien = 747
    K%: Hanser Alberto = 9.1% (who?)
    BB%: Kevin Pillar = 2.8%
    FB%: Rhys Hoskins 50.4%
    HR/FB: Yelich = 32.8%

This Frankenstein hitter would bat 747 times, and not K or BB 658 times. About 331 of those PAs would be hit in the air, and 108 of them would leave the yard.

Therefore, this Frankenstein hitter who led the league in PAs, balls in play, FB rate and HR rate would hit an amazing 108 HRs.

Acuna is on pace for 87.

I haven’t read all the thread. But is there any discussion about Pablo getting any time at 3rd base? I’m simply conjecturing about ways to get his bat in the lineup more often.

It was mentioned but not discussed at length. More of a "what if" as opposed to "the Braves have to do this."

Under, but close around 45. He’s going to hit a ton.

Think he gets to about 45 by the all star break then turns his attention to steals, which he gets to 45 the second half of the season

Yes sir - Panda can play third. Not great onviously, but he can do it. So you put Riley in outfield, Ronnie in center and panda at third ...
Does that solve everything? Nope. We are scoring more than enough to win pretty much every game. Sooooo..... we need serious serious serious - I can’t stress this enough- serious pitching help.
Like bring up the Mule and Voddy already. Some of these 39 arms have to actually pan out...
