I think it was Enscheff who suggested the Braves would probably baby Smyly through the regular season and give him the occasional break so he can be fresh for the postseason.

Forearm issues almost never end well.
Lol it’s 2020 all over again with our starting rotation but this time we have more games to cover up (162 vs 60), no dh, an inferior bench and an inferior pen. Yikes.

Season over
Smyly, Fried, Soroka, Martin, Pache. Yikes.
It just gets better and better.
Hate to say it, but most of the players on that list have performed terribly. Basically addition by subtraction

Never agreed with the Smyly deal. He’s never been a workhorse, never been healthy in a consistent basis, never been overly dominant for any significant stretch of time, and didn’t seem like a guy worth targeting.
This idea of “addition by subtraction” while losing 3 of the top 5 SPs and the best RH option out of the BP is probably the worst take I’ve read so far in 2021.

Aside from Smyly situation, why call up Camargo? Next 3 starting pitchers Wright, Ynoa and probably Wilson. Possible that a big showcase occurring in CHicago this weekend?
I'm surprised it is Wright instead of Wilson....Bryse clearly had a much better spring training than Wright.....maybe Bryse has had a rough time at the alternative site?

About camargo, I'm fine with giving him some starts. We have to do something if Riley isn't gonna hit
It was a foolish idea from the start. You had to ignore a lot of evidence to see your way to offering this guy $11M.
I would have been in favor of virtually any other use of that money. It's hard to think of a way to deploy that $11M that wouldn't have been better.
AA thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and maybe he is. He's gotten a lot more right than wrong. But if you have that much strength in your convictions you're occasionally going to be very wrong.
I just wish it hadn't cost our mid-revenue team $29M over the last two years.
