I hope it’s precautionary bc 11 million for two starts isn’t going to cut it. At least it’s ~2 more starts than we got from Hamels.

Hate to say it, but most of the players on that list have performed terribly. Basically addition by subtraction

Never agreed with the Smyly deal. He’s never been a workhorse, never been healthy in a consistent basis, never been overly dominant for any significant stretch of time, and didn’t seem like a guy worth targeting.

This idea of “addition by subtraction” while losing 3 of the top 5 SPs and the best RH option out of the BP is probably the worst take I’ve read so far in 2021.

It was a foolish idea from the start. You had to ignore a lot of evidence to see your way to offering this guy $11M.

I would have been in favor of virtually any other use of that money. It's hard to think of a way to deploy that $11M that wouldn't have been better.

AA thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and maybe he is. He's gotten a lot more right than wrong. But if you have that much strength in your convictions you're occasionally going to be very wrong.

I just wish it hadn't cost our mid-revenue team $29M over the last two years.
