We’ve had to work our bullpen to death because of all the close games early this year. Finally a chance to rest our key relievers, and Snit brings in one of our best guys in a 9-run game. All he had to do was keep Tomlin in for three more outs.

And now in a game with zero leverage, our dominant reliever with a history of the yips has completely lost the strike zone. Some real great stuff from Snit here.

I know that, but he’s been a well below average hitter for 4 of the past 6 years, and one of those he was exactly average and the other was a 60 game sample.

That’s not something you just stick with and hope your luck changes, especially when you’re of his pedigree.

If anything, at least we can hope Snitker learns a lesson here. The first time Acuna looks like he's hurting - at all - you take him out without asking whether he's OK to keep playing.

For all the "maturity" everyone's been giving him credit for, I don't think he has a clue how much it will hurt the team for him to be on the shelf for 2 weeks or more.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Ballplayers want to play ball. They don't ask out of the lineup.

They don't - that's right. But it was obvious to anyone watching how uncomfortable he was. They should have gotten up to check on him before he ever got to 2B - he got chased back a couple more times before getting there. Once he was there he continued pointing to it while he was talking to the Cubs' infielders.

Looks like we might have dodged a major bullet, but there's no telling how much more strain he added to the injury diving head-first when he scored.

Really hate to admit it but the guys had a good point when they compared Trout's situation, mentioning how little he runs anymore. I love watching the incredibly exciting version of Acuna as much as anyone when he's freewheeling it at the top of the order, but his bat is just too valuable to let him hurt himself. This goes right along with the oblique strains, broken fingers, wrist issues, etc. he can get when diving back into bases that can eventually take away flexibility and eventually sap some of his power.
