Not what I meant. The standard for how regulated a substance is should be based on what scientific studies tell us about the substance. Curios that you mention alcohol though. Marijuana use is linked with people drinking less alcohol and prescription pill abuse.

Nobody has to convince me that alcohol is a disgusting poison that should not be used.

The recent studies on weed are not good Cajun.

The recent studies? We have a whole country above us thats been legalized for years. The roads didnt turn into bumper cars. The kids arent all hooked on heroin. Homes arent being burglarized from stoners needing more money for pot. Wheres all these supposed harms in Canadia?

Those aren't the negative impacts of increased usage of weed.

The benefits to legalization are avoiding all of the above, not to mention an increase in personal freedom.

Show me where prohibition of marijuana has met any of its stated goals. How long do you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result?

    Thats the opportunity cost.
This is such a weak response to a really thorough post, man. This is the equivalent to the “reefer madness” campaigns from the mid 20th century.

If you are going to justify the government taking away a personal freedom, the onus is on you to prove the negative.

Its a weak response for you because you don't understand what weed usage does and what recent studies are showing.

I understand why you are taking this position. But you'll be proven wrong over time.

You and Aces are making the same mistake here that you make regarding economics.

Just because the two of you enjoy being on the right side of the IQ bell curve you think your perceptions apply to all of society. Eventually you'll understand the world is more nuanced than your own personal experiences.

Government isn’t my religion. I don’t need them to curve my behaviors to protect me against myself.

I don’t want to spend my tax dollars on to police failed prohibition policies. I can’t imagine anyone actually disagrees with that part at least.

What alternative do we have beyond legalization?

Again - Your own personal experiences are being projected to the rest of the population. With all due respect its an incredibly short sighted and dangerous position to take.

What alternative? Nobody is getting arrested for marijuana usage. The black market is stronger than ever in areas that have legalization.

How was legalization helped any of the issues other than having a bunch of more losers that are now high all the time?

So do you even remember that you were pro legalization? You seemingly changed just to spite me. Did you gaslight yourself that hard?

I agree I've been pro-legalization for a long portion of my life.

If you think you are that important to me for me to change my position than you stick with that.

Yeah, I am sure the timing of your change was purely coincidental.

Basically the sedentary lazy lifestyle is a myth. Heavy pot users are actually more active on average… pot users are less obese… and it also gets people off dependent terrible opioids. Yes pyschosis can be exacerbated in young developing brains who are already predisposed to psychosis. There is zero evidence that pot causes the psychosis and all the research suggests it was already present… weed just made it worse. I can buy that. That’s why there’s age limits. Also it being legalized keeps it from being laced with actual harmful junk. It’s all tested in a lab and you know exactly what’s in it. This is just a tiny sample that directly refutes some of the stupid stuff you’ve been spreading. Weed being illegal for healthy adults is flat out stupid.

First study is worthless because each individual is different. You don't grade cannabis users against others that don't. You grade the user against their own normal activity sober or not.

Not sure what the point is of the second study as I haven't opined on it making anyone more obese. Obesity is a lifestyle choice to cherish your body. Weed doesn't change that.

You can eliminate use of opiates in other ways than making the population high and docile. How about protecting the border?

I am a 20+ year everyday smoker. Not sure what your history is but I assure you I understand the effects of weed more than most on this board.
