Delaware Gov. John Carney (D) on Tuesday vetoed legislation that would have legalized possession of small amounts of marijuana, setting up a potential showdown with legislators who might try to force the measure into law over his objections.

Carney vetoed a measure to legalize possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana for those who are over 21 years old.

“I do not believe that promoting or expanding the use of recreational marijuana is in the best interests of the state of Delaware, especially our young people. Questions about the long-term health and economic impacts of recreational marijuana use, as well as serious law enforcement concerns, remain unresolved,” he wrote.

I like how the federal government has refused to allow independent studies on marijuana then people citr not knowing as an excuse to keep illegal. It's not like there's another country that legalized and had zero issues just to our north or anything.

Speaking anecdotally, I've met a lot more alcoholics who were a drain, detriment, and burden to their family, than grown adults and older who smoke pot.

I can't actually think of a grown adult that is a pothead, that pulls down those around them like an alcoholic does.

They usually just want to be left alone. Whereas alcoholism will deteriorate relationships all over.

If you want to study old potheads and long-term effects, I highly recommend Bolinas, California. Even their dogs are stoned.

That’s because the grown adults (potheads) have moved onto harder drugs as they age.

I personally know 0 people who moved from being potheads to harder drug addictions. I know people who've dabbled in other drugs but that's a random things. Conversely the people I know who went from booze to pills and opiates is much higher.

    What?

Harder drugs would be worse around them than alcohol.

Adult potheads I meet use it to help sleep, use it to help relax. Or just want to get high. They’re not beating their spouses like alcoholics and dragging down the morale of everyone arohnd them.

I have never seen a pothead get violent and belligerent while high.

meanwhile I’ve seen alcoholics in full flight.

This would be a very interesting thing to research. Pair up cities that are similar but one legalizes weed and one doesn't. Repeat enough to get a decent sample. Would be a neat thing to study. Kind of like a controlled trial with half the sample getting a placebo.

Are you still wearing your mask, by the way?

Lol remember when you proudly cheered on colleges forcing kids to get.multiple useless shots, make them still wear useless masks, and wouldn't allow them to socialize, all because you were a scared anti science little bitch? Kitchen sink I believe you called it.

I assume then you're wearing your little face diaper, still. Right?

Actually I favor interventions that are less costly and invasive (such as masks, frequent testing, vaccines) to avoid interventions that are more costly to society and students (like remote schooling). I have always thought we should make strenuous efforts to AVOID having to choose between lives and livelihoods. Interventions such as masking, frequent testing and vaccines are the best way to avoid having to choose between lives and livelihoods.

i don't see why i should pay the courtesy a second time to someone who is clearly incapable of engaging in good faith discussion

As someone who makes constant fusses about the lack of data with ivermectin efficacy, you religiously where your face diaper despite the same lack of data of efficacy

At least the face diaper is a public display of low IQ for the rest of us though

Perhaps Khan would benefit from a chat with Dr Roneet Lev, an emergency doctor at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, who tells me: 'We've been seeing the problems for a while now: depressive breakdowns, psychosis, suicidal thoughts, all related to cannabis. The patients are regular people, not down-and-outs.
'I want people to know the truth about this drug. We've been sold a lie, that cannabis use is harmless and even has a multitude of health benefits. It is exactly the same as what happened with tobacco. The industry told the public it was good for their health at first, before it was proven to be deadly.'
In California, hospital admissions for cannabis-related complications have shot up – from 1,400 in 2005 to 16,000 by 2019. In California, and the other 18 states that have legalised cannabis, rates of addiction are nearly 40 per cent higher than states without legal cannabis, according to research by Columbia University.

I’d be interested to see what other cocktails of drugs these people were taken but the risks of smoking pit have certainly been understated recently.

It’s not for everyone that much is for sure. If you have problems internally marijuana will force you to face them or be crumbled beneath its weight.
