Ozuna should be the DH and Adrianza should be in LF. Either that or Ender in CF and Heredia and LF.

Why is Heredia starting ahead of Inciarte again against the RH? Is it the "hot hand" theory?

We had him out here in Seattle a couple seasons and he's not all that. OPS will stabilize in the high sixes, most likely. Not a great defender, either.

Inciarte was hitting a little bit and can play defense. Since we're paying him, I'd rather give him the heavy lift side of a platoon.

I think it’s part hot hand part Ender not showing he can handle the load of the strong side of a platoon. Even if Ender is able to hit at a passable level he breaks down all the time.

You’re right, but Snit is going to allow Heredia to turn back into a pumpkin, and then begin to rot for a couple weeks before he makes the change. That’s always how “going with the hot hand” works out, and is why it’s such a foolish idea.

The silver lining is that Ender isn’t that much better than Heredia, and would probably just get hurt if he played more than 1-2 games a week, so it’s not a huge deal.

On the plus side, at least Snit is using the correct DH, and has Riley in the correct spot. So it’s not all bad.

You think Sandoval is the correct DH? I personally think we’d be better moving Ozuna to DH and upgrading the defense.

I’m mostly just excited about watching Panda get 4-5 PAs instead of seeing Morton flail away 2-3 times followed by Snit making correct PH decisions.

Why anyone would rather see Morton bat instead of Panda is baffling to me.

LF in Fenway may be the easiest position to play in all of baseball. Ozuna has to throw the ball like 30’ to Swanson. If there was any time to sacrifice OF defense, it’s this series.

Panda should be getting all 8-10 DH PAs this series. There is no reason to keep one of the best 5-6 bats on the bench at Fenway.

There's nothing wrong with Ozuna's defense, UZR is positive, and far better than last year. What he cannot do is throw, and even that isn't really showing up in his metrics (yet).

That makes sense. 30’ still seems like a long way for Ozuna though. I think part of me wanting to up the defense is I also hate the idea of seeing the idea of Panda getting extended opportunities to run the bases.

Panda has had some success against the Sox pitcher. Nothing much from the other bench guys.

Put this in the last minor league thread too but I know there were some questions about him, so I thought I'd but it here too:

Kipnis in the lineup for Gwinnett tonight... sounds like he was injured from folks on Twitter

Damn. He did? I hope that didn't tire any of them out. He should've waited until after the game. What a bad manager!

Ozuna hit 3 HRs at Fenway last year, so I'm calling his breakout series

Only good thing about T 1st was driving pitch count up
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;......

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
