Reason for Turner being removed from tonight’s game is he tested positive for COVID-19

That's brutal if they were close to moving him

    Probably not much greater.

Seems like we all agreed in recent pages that Morton would return a top 50-100 prospect. You’re saying there’s only slightly greater than a 6% chance that a top 50-100 prospect would help this franchise?

I always wonder "who's zooming who" when proposed deals take a sharp turn in a different direction. One of the snippets of Moneyball had Lewis describing Beane and company working on a couple of deadline deals and the "he said/he said" was pretty fascinating. Looks like Cherington may have leaked something to get the Mariners to jump.

We'll see if there's a performance difference in the proposed packages. Bins is closer to the majors than Gutierrez, so that likely plays into things.

It looks like it was a medical issue that caused the Phillies deal to fall apart

Bryant says he’s willing to return to the Cubs next year if he’s traded now. Wonder if that’s posturing on his part or what the reason is behind the comments? Seems like comments like that will only hurt the Cubs in what they get back for him in a trade.

Any read about the Mariner players reaction to the trade yesterday of Graveman? They are 1 game out of a playoff spot and Dipoto traded their best reliever for 2 no ones.

Didn't address the players at all, they found out from the press. Yiesshhh

What Seattle traded Graveman and then went ahead and acquired Anderson from the Pirates?

I don't see how it hurts them in any way. Teams trading for him will be trading for what he brigs over next 2-3 months only. Any team trading for a rental knows there is a good chance that player may sign with someone else in the off-season. Only poorly run teams give up value for the potential to sign someone long term.

Heyman just doubled down on recent reports that the Braves are buying.

Heyman: The Braves were a buyer when they acquired Joc Pederson and in a tight NL East they will continue to buy. Only question is how aggressive to be. So no, Charlie Morton will not hit the market. Braves are 4 games back even without Acuna, Ozuna, Soroka. So understandable stance.

    The dream is dead.

It reminds me a bit of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Flag_Trade

Jerry Reinsdorf pulled the plug on a White Sox team that was in contention. He traded three of the White Sox top pitchers (Danny Darwin, Roberto Hernandez, and Wilson Alvarez) to the Giants for six younger players (two of whom, Keith Foulke and Bobby Howry, did have decent careers and, as the Wikipedia entry points out, did contribute the White Sox making the playoffs a couple of years later).

I never saw AA giving in and selling. He knows TDA and Ynoa are coming back in a few weeks and will help along with whatever he trades for. The division is terrible this year.

Depending on the site you look at, we have a 4-9% chance at making the playoffs.

Probably goes up considerably with the right moves over the final 61 games. More offense, improved bullpen cutting down on the 2-1 and 3-2 losses and the blown late inning leads. And not that this has mattered, but the schedule in August isn’t terrible.
