Can only hope we offered scrap heap and they wanted something unreasonable. Or they just refuse to deal with us. Duvall would be a preferable option as a platoon with Almonte. That’s about it. I’d prefer to just sell if that’s the extent of what AA is really going for, which I doubt it is.

Continue to hear it’s a real buyers market for position players. Lots of stars on market: Bryant, Story, Baez, Rizzo, Turner, Buxton, Marte, Escobar, Gallo, Peralta etc. Hearing of many offers of “B” level prospects for established “A” names. Contenders are focused on pitching.

So at this point, how would you grade our pitching prospects?

I'd assume guys like Newk/Wilson/etc have falled into the C or D category.

Touki and Mueller are probably in that B category.
    Welllllll....

If AA can add Marte/Bryant for a poo-poo platter, then buying makes more sense. A bat like that plus a competent BP arm gives this team a chance to win this crappy division.

Hell, if these guys are really that cheap, get BOTH Marte and Bryant. Paying pennies on the dollar is always a good idea when you can pull it off.

If you could get Marte/Bryant then we absolutely have a shot to catch lighting in a bottle. Starting pitching has a very high ceiling and if Ynoa comes back pitching like he was then we could have a fun October.

Hopefully no FV 50 and over guys are needed for that because thats a hard no for me with such small odds of winning.

Maybe the desire to “buy” stems from the fact that there isn’t an awesome team in the NL. The Brewers are flawed with their weak lineup. The Mets are what they are. The Dodgers have some players struggling and are missing Bauer from their rotation. We know how deep this team is, but they don’t have the allure that last years team did. The Giants are a very solid team. Best in baseball I believe, but you have to believe these guys continue to play above their heads all year long.

Lindor has a .847 OPS over his last 45 games. Pretty safe to say he's back to what he was. A healthy Carrasco and Thor are both better than any pitcher currently on our roster.

Last night it sounded like they were on the verge of acquiring him... I think it’s actually cooled off a bit

My prediction is we will do nothing of note, and we will be upset at how little teams had to give up to acquire the players we would have wanted. Just seems so stacked in favor of the teams who are able to take on payroll this year.

I haven’t followed Luzardo lately but isn’t he still pretty big time? Seems like a big give for a rental

straight slap in the face for the braves. Marlins also said to be throwing in a "significant" amount of cash in the deal

can't wait to hear AA talk about how high the prices were.

Jesus Luzardo going to Miami in return. Good return for a 2 month rental.

Hasn't had a good 2021, but he was a top 10 overall prospect pre 2020. He pitched pretty well for the As in 2020, finishing 8th in AL ROY voting. The shine has a faded a wee bit due to his struggles this year, which is why he was even available for a 3 month rental. But he definitely has more upside than anyone else the Marlins could have hoped to get for a 3 month rental.

No way we could have matched that deal. #9 prospect pre-2020

How? Marlins apparently aren't dealing anyone to Atlanta
