No, but I want to see waters. If I were really running the show I don’t think I would start the clock on waters because I would already know what I want to know as a fan.

I think todays lineup may give indications of what AA has in mind.

Does this put any pressure to resign Freddie? Acuna could have a few set backs in ST next year but at his age I think he comes back strong just not sure if he will still have the same level of mobility and speed.

A strange thought, but I'm sure everybody's minds are all over the place right now...

Maybe - just maybe - this "fixes" the concerns some have about "protection" for Freddie, and alters your offseason shopping list if he's extended. The Angels finally moved Trout down and he stopped running once they realized how desperately they needed to keep his bat in the lineup. Suddenly signing Marte if he makes it to free-agency (and AA doesn't trade for him this month anyway) makes a lot of sense (and potentially saves a chunk of money) if you move Acuna down. Marte/Freddie/Acuna/Albies/Riley would be really dangerous, and you'd assume Acuna's production would go up with more people in front of him consistently. If Pache makes adjustments and can win the CF job between now and Opening Day 2022, you could play Marte in LF and potentially sign a Pederson/Duvall pairing to DH.

That would definitely ease any worries about having Heredia/Almonte/Inciarte-level outfielders on the roster in 2022.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Acuna has his brainlocks, but I've never doubted that he plays the game extremely hard and his mistakes generally are from being overly aggressive. He just thinks he can do just about anything and succeed and as such often tries to do too much. Didn't see the play from yesterday, but having played the OF the ball can do some crazy things off the bat and misjudgements happen even to the best outfielders. It's just unfortunate, but I'm not putting this on anything he did in trying to track down the ball.

Yeah. It's unfortunate, but I know when I was young I played the exact same way. I wouldn't say wreckless...but I could have saved a few confusions, teeth, knee ops and joint pain with a few less save the world plays. For all of the angst about his aggressiveness I'm going to miss the swagger, the energy and obvious joy Acuña plays the game with. Chip and old guys win. Back to fundamental, gentleman-like baseball. Lmao!

The biggest problem with this injury is it protects twit. Hard to blame a manager when half the team breaks down.

Trade Freeman and Smyly to Cleveland for a package centered around Triston McKenzie and Tyler Freeman. Re-sign Freddie in the off-season. Win 2022 WS.

I really wanted the Braves to draft McKenzie. As I was following the 2015 draft I thought for sure the Braves would take him at #41 even though they had already drafted Allard and Soroka. Truth be told, I was kind of disappointed the Braves took Soroka instead of McKenzie (so what do I know). Braves took Riley at #41 and Indians took McKenzie with the next pick. It's all turned out fairly well for both sides (except for Soroka's injury).

McKenzie has to be the skinniest guy in the major leagues, but he's got great stuff.

I wish we had the guts/balls to do something like this. Just talk to Freeman about it, and tell him the team really wants him as part of 2022, but that sending him to a contender for half a year would be a win for both of them. The money we would save from his contract would even help pay for another year of Morton or something similar (not all of the amount, most likely, but a good portion of it).

Braves aren’t selling anything, because while they have virtually no shot of winning the division, I still see them being within 4-5 games of the Mets at the deadline. AA can’t justify a sell off and punting the season being that close, even if the odds are extremely small.
