We’re at about a week and a half with Shewmake out of the lineup, but he’s still not on the IL either. He was in the lineup Mississippi put out last Monday but was a late scratch. Nothing since then. Kind of strange.

Also probably time to stick Mezquita in Augusta and see if he’s figured something out or if he’s just an older guy dominating a level that he should.

He's still only 20. Repeating the GCL after the cancelled minor league season and the absence of the Appalachian League. K-rates on all the repeaters (Mezquita, Backstrom, and Morton) are all still too high in my book. I will be curious to see who moves up and who goes home after the draft class starts showing up. GCL is a bit of a jumble this year with no rookie league above it and, in the Braves' case, no Dominican Summer League team.

There are a few guys on the Augusta roster who are probably playing their last couple of weeks of professional baseball with Conley, Waddell, and Malloy all likely to be there if not as their first assignment, shortly thereafter after a week in the GCL to get acclimmated.

Wondering what the deal with Augusta, which arguably has the worst pitching staff in the minors at present. Starting that DH tonight were Roddery Munoz and Rolddy Munoz. Both were terrible. Roddery had a career 2-8 record coming in, while Rolddy was a mere 0-1.

    And yep, they're twins.

They've been getting absolutely clobbered lately. I belive Roddery is the more highly-regardeed of the Munoz twins.

I like Elder. Do people feel like he's a good shot to be a really good 5 while he's still cheap?

I think he will have the ball in play, so a team with great defense and a decent sized park help him. I'd really like to see the Braves be able to lock down the 4 and 5 spots in the rotation for cheap so we can focus resources and get some higher end 1/2 guys for playoff success.

I think that's the hope with Elder. Of the guys drafted last year, he's probably the closest to being a finished product and I think that although his ceiling is perceived to being lower than either Shuster's or Strider's, he probably is a better bet to reach his ceiling than either of those two. I think of Elder as a better version of Kingham (also a Texas Longhorn). He's not going to blow opposing hitters away, but if he keeps the ball in the park (which he's been able to do quite well this season), he could develop into a reliable back-end-of-the-rotation guy.

Can we trade Wright and Wilson for two more of those please???
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
