Braves Mid Season Prospects list from a minor league site I follow. Obviously this is not a pro opinion, but it's still good to hear an unbiased take on our organization.

Interesting methodology and some interesting names. The two guys I really expected to do more are Backstrom and Morton down in the rookie league. K rates are too high with both of them without much to show on the other end in terms of production. Same can be said of Paolini in Augusta.

Small sample size rules, but the three college IFs we drafted in 2021 (Malloy, Waddell, and Conley) are showing up pretty well in the early going.

The guys that cover the Jays and Marlins systems (Greg and Stoffer) are in a fantasy league with me - the 3rd round of our First Year Player Draft is today (I nabbed Cusick yesterday).

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

2021 draftees are acquiting themselves fairly well. Dylan Spain is a little older (23) than your standard draftee and he didn't pitch at Hawaii-Hilo in 2021 even though he had eligibility left. He's gotten off to a good start.

A lot of our latest drafts guys have aquitted fairly well. No raging flameouts so far.

I remember hearing a scout interviewed about Backstrom around the time he was drafted. Basic takeaway was he has huge talent and ceiling but will take more development than usual. I hope that was accurate and everything is on track.

I'm starting to think they should be prioritizing hit tool and completely ignoring the raw power tool. It seems like hitters develop power far more often than raw power guys learn to hit.

The game has changed and those changes have trickled down to player development, but I've always believed that the hit tool--contact--should be stressed first and then hope that power can be developed after contact skills have been established. Launch angle doesn't mean sh*t if you don't hit the ball.

Backstrom ws the pick I was super excited about... so I hope the talent starts winning out soon.

Backstrom works hard and wants to succeed. He's dripping with tools. I'm glad they left him at the complex...I really think next year is his take off year. I'm with you ZB.
