You called them low information voters. There are places where people are trained to tune out the info or trust what they have been taught. Our area of Georgia is one. You cannot get elected running R by your name.

Sounds like there is an opening for a serious honest Republican like you. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes. I recommend you study Larry Elder's campaign to get an idea of what not to do if you want to win over voters in an area that mostly votes blue.

I know you know this, but it's somewhere between silly and dishonest to act like the culture wars are started by the right. They aren't the side that sought to redefine marriage, or implement racial quotas, or invent new genders, or tell 4 year old Tommy it's totally natural for him to want to be Tammy.

So just realize that when you say "candidates who care about local issues rather than the culture wars," we realize you're saying "just grease those squeaky wheel crazies and give in to the complete insanity they're implementing all around you."

    I decline.

And California voters declined whatever it was that Larry Elder was pitching. But maybe it made some people feel good to see him out there fighting for them.

And California will now suffer the consequences of a degrading state propped up by their feudal lords.

you conveniently brush over the birth of the "culture wars."
Viet Nam and the politics whether we'd continue or pull out.

The people of power , both (D) and (R), characterized anti war citizens as dirty , long haired, sex crazed communists.
Thus the birth of the moral majority brought together all of this nonsense by Nixon's Southern Strategy. (Based on you guessed it, race)
If we can go back to the 1830s to justify a war to continue slavery we can at the least go back to the late 60s to look at the source of what became known as
    " the culture wars"

You can look all that up

i believe there is school of thought with a fairly large following that views the civil war as a northern attack on the southern way of life...and look what that led us to...black men marrying white women

Should we compare the social policies of Bill Clintons Democrat party and the current version?

Naw - you guys don't want to entertain that discussion.

Good for them. They decided Newsom fit their values. Based on what I've seen of both Newsom and California values, I think they're probably right. They can all go party out on the streets to celebrate, wearing pussy hats and masks and cross dressing. We can listen to talking heads explain how important it was to their mental health to celebrate the defeat of a white supremacist like Elder.

But they can't party.... Newsom won't let them.

    And they are grateful

I'm still sorta shocked (but guess I shouldn't be) that they painted the black candidate as the racist one, and they actually got a pass for it.

It will be interesting to see how Larry Elder type candidates do next year. Both in the primaries and the general election. It looks like there will be a lot of them.
