The window just got longer guys....
Now you have to see which of our starting pitching prospects can develop. If someone like Strider/Elder hit then you really have a WS team for the next 5 years.
I want a Fried extention and I want it now!!!

No need to worry about finding or trading prospects for another 1B in a couple of years. Should be good production for the money, especially when you look at those spray charts superimposed over Truist. And it lets the Braves flip the script from the people who were mad because "Freddie wanted to be here." A younger hometown kid who outperformed Freeman last year just took a team friendly deal to be here when Freddie wouldn't.

Damn AA didn't waste much time. Olson giving a hometown discount?
The newfound bashing of Freeman is a bit ludicrous. Dude signed his own team-friendly, eight-year deal during the previous brief window of contention, and the Braves royally sucked for four years of that. Granted it was a necessary part of the process to get us to the current run. If he was even two years younger, the Braves would have just given him a giant 6-7-year contract. And if the Braves had an owner who wanted a payroll of $200 million plus, we would have re-upped him months ago.
Agreed. I have no issue with Freddie taking as much money as he can get- I'd do the same. AA should- and does- operate with the same degree of shrewdness.
I love Freddie and always will. He should easily go down in the Braves HOF. But he deserves some criticism for how this has played out (or at the very least his agent does). Spring training is pretty much happening and he keeps waffling on his decision. How long can you wait? This is certainly 100% on Freddie's camp.
I hope Freddie gets a $200 million contract from someone. I have no issue with him making his salary the most important factor in where he signs instead of making staying in Atlanta the most important factor. Heck, I don't want to stay in Atlanta either. It does irritate me when that seems to be the case but he's been saying he wanted to stay in Atlanta. That's just pinning the blame elsewhere.

Hometown discount might have a little to do with it. But I think one thing that's often overlooked in these situations is stability. If Olson takes a pitch to the face tomorrow and suffers damage to one of his eyes, his career is over. This guarantees him the money no matter what happens. I think a lot of "hometown discounts" in these situations are more about having a ton of guaranteed money rather than playing for a home team.

If you watch the Olson press conference and go to 23:15 you can hear a reporter casually ask AA "Anything else up your sleeve?" He immediately says "Yep. Sit tight for 24 hours."

Alright, let's round out the roster
Is Yu Darvish a potential target if the Padres season turns upside down with Tatis? Maybe Snell?

Man. the Freeman talks must have gotten brutal. They essentially gave Olson the 6/180 for the same age window. Really rubbed Freddie's nose in it.
