Lewis Brinson DFA'd by the Marlins. Yelich trade didn't turn out well for them.

Freeman has our best offer and he hasn’t accepted so that tells me he isn’t satisfied with it. AA is in a super tough spot here bc the casual fan would sign Freeman and to hell with the budget to compete at all for the future. But it’s a business at the end of the day and he has to set a deadline for Freddie to accept it bc he has to finish building his team before his options are gone.

My guess is what's holding up a Freeman deal is the finer details, like the money in which years, if there's any money deferred, etc.
Olson has been an obvious backup plan to Freeman ever since it became known the As would be selling, and they are very close in projected value.
Freeman 2022 projections: .291/.389/.512, 4.5 fWAR
Olson 2022 projections: .259/.361/.523, 4.6 fWAR
Freeman will be 32 and cost ~$30M per year for the next 5+ years.
Olson will be 28 and cost ~$30M total over the next 2 years plus a haul of prospects.
If the As overvalue some of the Braves MLB-ready mediocre players, then there is definitely a case to be made that Olson is the way to go.

For those interested in Matthew Boyd...he was non-tendered by the Tigers
Was just about to post this. I think he could be a good recipient of this year's Cole Hamels Memorial Drew Smyly Contract.
Steamer projects him for 1.2 fwar in only 81 IP. If he can bounce back to better health (a big if, of course), he could be a nice ~3 fwar mid-rotation guy. And if he just hits his Steamer projections, that wouldn't be unworthy of a $10m flyer.

As in the case (s) if Reynolds and Mullins, Could the Braves put together a package the A's would consider? Contreras is the only prospect we have that look remotely major league-ready and he has defensive issues. May be some others (Pache, Waters, etc.) but I'm pretty down on the upper levels of our system.

Why is it taking so long to see who has or hasn’t been tendered?
Somewhat surprised we haven't seen who's being non-tendered yet.

The Braves have non-tendered Richard Rodriguez, per source.
