Not surprise. His reps will probably meet with as many teams as possible to drive up the price.
Probably just due dilgence, Yankees are much more in on the SS market if they go for a massive committment than Freeman, imo. Not sure they'd go for Freeman and one of the big name shortstops as well as other areas.

They may be looking at Freeman to play SS.

They've gone with big guys who can't play defense at plenty of other positions. What's one more?

He also said Acuna could have DH'd in the WS but worried about him not being able to run well. Probably the right move but would of been so chill seeing Ronnie in the WS.

Shocked by that. I remember seeing him walking around on the field after one of the playoff games and he had a significant limp.

Any team talking to FF agents would try to strike quick I’d think so he didn’t have time to sit around and think about it. I think they longer it goes the better in our favor it is. I’d never put it past the Yankees bringing in Correa and Freeman both. They have the money and are sick of not going very far in the playoffs.

I'm not sure if they have enough money to spend on both of those guys, because their rotation still needs a lot of work.

They might do some trades or non-tender some guys like Voit, among others. But even then i agree, i dont think they go for Freeman and one of the shortstops, plus they need rotation help.

How much money would the coast teams have if the luxury tax goes away?

If you know you can’t afford him why even ask for a meeting? You already know what he’s gonna cost.

This type of context really helps us understand what AA is thinking.

Given he doesn't see Pache as an option opening day, we can conclude he needs a CF of some sort.

Given the market for CFers is basically Marte and an overpriced Reynolds, it would be foolish to shop in the top end of that market.

That leaves us with Duvall filling the "4th OFer who can fake it in CF and slide to the bench if Pache ever forces his way into the lineup". The Braves are going to pay him over $10M to do it in 2022, but there are worse moves they could make.

This also allows AA to flip Pache for Olson if he can't afford Freman.

I dont think the luxury tax will go away, it's one of the few things that makes some teams not go bat**** crazy in free agency.

Will he manage to put up 2 WAR playing CF all season though?

    Starting with this: https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-res...payroll/braves

Assume they let Arcia, Camargo, and RiRod go, here is the current 2022 payroll at $128.8M. Holes still at 1B, LF, SP and a couple bench bats. Any money saved from Ozuna will likely go right into another DH bat, so that will be roughly a wash. We have been assuming opening day payroll of $150M-$160M, which barely leaves room for Freeman's ~$30M. It should already be obvious how hard it is to accommodate massive salaries with a mid-market payroll.

    Pos Player 2022 Salary
    1 C d'Arnaud $8.00
    2 1B
    3 2B Albies $5.00
    4 3B Riley $4.30
    5 SS Swanson $10.10
    6 RF Acuna $15.00
    7 CF Duvall $9.10
    8 LF LF
    9 DH Ozuna $16.00

    10 SP1 Fried $7.10
    11 SP2 Morton $20.00
    12 SP3 Anderson $0.60
    13 SP4 SP
    14 SP5 Soroka $2.80

    15 BN2 IF
    16 BN3 Heredia $1.60
    17 BN4 OF
    18 BN5 Langeliers $0.60

    19 BP1 Jackson $3.80
    20 BP2 Minter $2.10
    21 BP3 Webb $0.60
    22 BP4 Newcomb $0.90
    23 BP5 Smith $13.00
    24 BP6 Ynoa $0.60
    25 BP7 Matzek $1.50
    26 BP8 Touki $0.60

    EX BO Duvall $3.00
    EX BO Pederson $2.50
    EX BO Inciarte $1.00
    EX BO Tomlin $0.25

If AA knew FFs asking price why did he sign Morton so early? Big question IMO. Budget has to be much higher or FF has to be gone.

I honestly had never heard that, so I really don't know. I'm not a cable subscriber (cut the chord years ago), so I have no insights. But I feel like that's something I'd hear about.

I remember when George Steinbrenner was alive there was a charge of $3/month for YES. There were also some court challenges involved. How it all came out IDK, Just curious.

I believe payroll will be closer to 200 then 150.
We can atleast dream it is due to revenue from the playoffs.
    Fingers crossed
