Scherzer going to the Mets would not be good but he'd be an equally bigger loss for the Dodgers. And they're still the biggest threat for the Braves provided we keep Freeman and make enough other moves.

Then the experts will make Mets favorites to win the division… 😂

Morosi: Max Scherzer and the #Mets are close to finalizing a multiyear deal, source confirms. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Scherzer would no doubt make the Mets better. I know they are the Mets and they usually make dumb decisions but that would be a good addition.

Mets seem like they want to go for it while Degrom is still elite. I guess by that logic, you don't really care how these guys are playing in 3 years, because Degrom likely isn't picking like an elite pitcher in 3 years regardless.

Would certainly make them alot better, obviously. Braves just need to keep Freeman, and figure out the outfield situation. The contract has gotta be massive if he didnt stay on the West Coast or the Mets went to 4 years for him.

DeGrom's only 33, but some pitchers age differently than others do. Verlander and Scherzer were both elite at 36-37.

Cohen spent enough to build a 90 win team with a 2 year window. Kudos to him for becoming late period George Steinbrenner.

And Braves may be a 95+ win team or more depending what AA does.

If you would have told me in 2019 that this bum was going to get a 5/110 I would have laughed you off this board.

I think the Mets will likely be better this year given the uncertainty with Acuna, Morton, and Soroka. However, the Braves can be patient and look for value and commit to players and trades that are good value. This is how modern teams assemble good teams. Cohen claims he wants to build Dodgers East, but he basically does the thing that rich dumb teams do (it’s really hard to build a losing team on a 250+ million payroll).

The Mets are throwing everything in the cart to go all in on a pretty thin core. If DeGrom has health issues again next year, their ceiling is pretty well hard capped.

I still wouldnt have gone 5 years for Gausman. Good for him on landing that contract.

    Re sign Freeman
Trade for one of Reynolds or Mullins
Bring in a legit RH bullpen arm
Bring back Rosario and maybe Soler depending on Ozuna

We win the East again regardless of what else the Mets do.

With a healthy Acuna and Morton, this team would be a top 3-5 contender.

Freeman is a must, obviously. I dont see AA paying the price for Mullins or Reynolds but he doesnt leak anything so who knows what hes thinking. I think we'll try in-house on the BP or wait for someones value to drop. The outfield and Freeman is where we need to figure out mostly, as well as a veteran SP since we have no idea what to expect from Soroka.

Acuna is coming off an ACL injury and we have no competent OF’ers on the roster right now. Pache isn’t a starter right now imo on the big club. If we want to seriously compete he’s gonna have to get a really good starting of’er. A better starter than Rosario.

    Re sign Rosario
He they add DH re sign Soler
    Sign Kirby Yates

If we can save money for the trade deadline.
