I suspect teams would be a lot more careful with Smoltz these days -- he threw nine complete games and 246 innings in 1992 as a 25-year-old. Got hurt in 1994, struggled in the postseason in 1995, then threw 253 innings in 1996.

    Well, 7 pitches.

I did think Albies got that one better than that though.

It's hard to fault them when he's dominated the zone. Stuff looks great.

I wouldn't make that argument. Smoltz was amazingly consistent and great. Maddux was amazingly consistent and elite. Maddux was just on another level than most any pitcher who has ever played.

Would have been nice to have 1 more LHH in there rather than watching Duvall flail away at that pitch.

He’s burying the change down now. Great sign.

At their peak performance I think Smoltz was just as good.

He's got to hit a hr soon. Once I go on my tirades about a player, they usually come through big

Chipper dropping that pop up in the stands with Andruw sitting right next to him is comedic gold.

Ian is pounding the top of the zone with the heater and the bottom with the off speed stuff. Great to see.

You really cannot ask for a better start for Anderson. This is exactly what you want to see from him.

I mean Smoltz had one season where he did what Maddux did every year in his prime. So he does have that.
