    Talking Chops 2021 Player Reviews - MLB/MiLB

With the tremendous loss of Rico (RIP) it will have to be a joint effort to try and match his contributions to the community.

    https://www.talkingchop.com/2021/11/...season-reviews

Here is a nice listing from Talking Chop giving short reviews of all MLB/MiLB players for their 2021 years.

I'm very interested in Tarnok & Estes next year. By midseason I think the Braves are going to be in a position where trading someone like Ian Anderson is a very realistic scenario.

I seriously doubt that, but I dont forsee a long career for Ian Anderson. His peak value is either now or this time next year. If he has a good year in 2022 we should trade him and cash in before he breaks down.

It may be unpopular but I’d look to unload him now for a controllable stud OF’er and go after somebody like Sonny Gray or Castillo

It's not very wise to trade away good, cheap, controllable starting pitching and replace them with expensive starting pitchers. I'm not opposed to taking Anderson, but we need a cheap replacement that can be a 2-3 WAR pitcher like Ian. Hopefully someone can step up among the Wright, Ynoa, Davidson and Muller and be guy.

Agreed. I’m only interested in trading Anderson after seeing development next year from the young guys as well as how soroka bounces back.

Anderson could probably get you someone like Mullins or Reynolds tho may be too soon for Pirates to take on an Anderson. Olson would not take much more. All depends on Freddie.

Probably too early to cash in on Anderson given uncertainy of Soroka, and Morton coming off that injury.

Too soon to trade Anderson. Not enough starting pitching ready for the start of 2022.

I am not advocating trading Anderson, just commenting on his worth IMO.

Fair enough - I think he would definitely be one of the best if not best piece dangled for any player you mentioned.

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

I see - You want him to have the Gattis treatment.

Not all that bad of an idea especially if Shea is going to be the primary backstop in the future.

Strider/Elder/Tarnok/Estes are going to be quite the quartet to watch this year.

I know there are others included but feel like we are going to get at least 2 quality major league starting pitchers out of that group.

I think Cusick has to be in that group too. Big college arm will move quick imo.

Lot of people wanting to flip a FB\CU pitcher who (it may just be confirmation bias) be a really good pitcher for a long time. Just on the surface it seems like those combo pitchers are pretty healthy and have some serious staying power.

Yeah, plus plus change, too. He keeps it really simple, and his curve is a spike curve, which is relatively easy on the arm. He's outpitched his peripherals and his spin rates by a lot, I know. I think his release point and his tunneling has more to do with his stuff playing up than luck does.

I know the league may catch up to him, but they haven't yet. I would not be in favor of moving him regardless of the status of the other pitchers.

Without even knowing who the potential player in return might be?

Nobody is advocating selling him for pennies on the dollar.

No. sorry. Gattis couldn't have spelled 3B, and (for as questionable as his defense behind the plate currently has been) he wasn't nearly as solid an emergency option as Contreras is when he was wearing the tools of ignorance.

Gattis is arguably the only Brave in the last 10-15 years who was more cut out to be a DH than Ozuna given the fact that you could at least feel like you could trust Matt Adams' 1B defense.

My thinking is, assuming he has a good 2022, that he will be at peak value and we should cash out then. I am betting some team will grossly overpay.
