Marlins are on a good run but about as average of a team as it gets.

15th in team fWAR among hitters. 15th in team fWAR among pitchers. 39-40 record. +15 run differential.

I could envision a set of deals involving flipping Anderson for someone like Happ, and then acquiring an expensive rental SP to fill that hole.
    That's bold.

Steve O.: If you’re the Yankees would you give up Oswald Peraza+ for Ian Happ, or would you rather just go for someone like David Peralta or Benintendi?
    3:05
Ben Clemens: I would not trade Peraza plus for Happ, who in my estimation is a nice player who’s only an upgrade on Aaron Hicks in the Yankees’ OF

For reference, Peraza is a FV 50 prospect ranked #42 by FG.

The Braves don't even have a prospect that good, but a 45 plus filler is probably reasonable for Happ. Assuming Grissom isn't going anywhere (though folks may not realize he is older than Harris and still in A ball), that's Shuster or Muller plus filler for Happ. I think I'd do that trade.

Of course, not saying they are a great team by any stretch. Just pointing out the Mets could be catching them at the wrong time, and we take the division lead into the all star break.

Maybe, maybe not. For them to get one of the wildcards, they're going to have to jump over Cleveland (not necessarily out of the question), Toronto (who will be buyers), and one of Boston (about to get Sale and Eovaldi back) or Tampa.

Looking at things objectively, that simply isn't going to happen - and their schedule isn't going to be kind to them since the only relative "pushovers" they face between now and the deadline are the Gnats (and that's only for two games). They're about to get the Jays for four, and Houston can ruin them even if the Mariners have conceded the division - they get the Astros SEVEN times between now and the end of the month. They also get the Yankees for the last two games before the deadline.

There's wishful thinking (and trading), and there's *hitty reality.

    Agreed.

Although if Alex were to go that route, I think I'd want to at least ask what it would take to expand the deal to include Givens. Wonder if Shuster and Waters would be enough to make that happen?

Pretty ugly situation for Detroit. They signed Eduardo Rodriguez this past offseason to a 5 year / $77m contract, he went on the IL May 18th due to a rib cage injury. During rehab, they placed him on the restricted list due to a "marital issue". That happened June 13th, and since then, they have had no contact with him. Apparently, he is not returning their calls.

Soroka hit in the knee by a line drive and it’ll set him back a little bit. Talk about bad luck.

Prefer to trade Shuster over Muller, myself. Both have plenty of bust potential, but Muller has better stuff and has succeeded at a higher level.

No doubt about it. Muller looks like he's taken the next step in AAA... if it translates to the majors he has the stuff to be different

I think he needs to go see Rosario’s eye surgeon. Or just retire……yea, that’s the better option
