Freeman is again showing no sign of regression in his age 32 year. I think that should tell us something about when his ageing decline is going to hit hard. Maybe its 3 years but I still think he is productive then and will fall off a cliff past 36.
Plenty of 1b are still productive through age 33
It's age 34-35 that you start to see major regression. I'm sure Dodgers won't care if he helps to win them a WS this year or next year.

The point is the majority of great to HOF 1B over the last 3 decades have seen a dramatic fall off in production from their low to mid 30's. Could he age like Chipper if he spends less time at 1B and more at DH? Could he pull an Ortiz and hit great until he retires? Those are all possibilities but not likely imo.

Goldy also appears to be holding up pretty well so far, so it’s possible.

However, teams are wise to plan around the likely outcome, not the unlikely outcome fans love to dream on.

You may have heard that Dwight Smith, former outfielder with the Braves, has passed away.

    Ouch.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Arenado and Goldschmidt placed on the restricted list - unvaccinated.

Makes it tough to make up ground.

Unfortunately Heyman's probably right - they have the players to get it done AND can actually afford to pay him to hit between Goldy and Arenado until he becomes a free-agent.

Several of the packages I've seen the talking heads propose wouldn't hurt them enough to keep them from pulling the trigger IMO.

Sucks about Duvall. He had turned it around and playing like we expected. Likely his last game as a Brave. Your right. AA needs to get the best OF he can and now.

Just turned on the Mets game and they immediately scored two runs on a 50 mph dribbler to 3B that Machado threw into the stands.

They’ve got 80-grade luck working thus far this season.

According to FG, Swanson's big season has increased his next contract value by quite a bit: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/which-fr...alue-the-most/

"I think Swanson gets a nine-figure deal this winter, and if the right team has an interest, his deal could be similar to Trevor Story’s in Boston."

For reference, Story got 6 years $140M with a weird opt out after 2025 that the BoSox can counter by opting back in for $25M in 2028, bringing the total to $160M over 7 years.

After seeing Arcia give back much of the gains he seemed to make this year, I'm not sure AA can even bluff giving him the everyday role in 2023. AA is going to have to pay someone, and I can't fathom giving Swanson upwards of $140M being a good idea.
