In interesting baseball news, Ji-hwan Bae (another of the Braves' international signees whose contract was invalidated due to chicanery) made his debut with the Pirates last weekend, a couple of days after Livan Soto (highlighted in an earlier comment) made his with the Angels. The rest of the guys are probably at least a year away and, outside IF Yunior Severino, didn't have particularly good years statistically.

Five years later, Acuña is a three-time All-Star, a Rookie of the Year Award winner, and a World Series winner. He’s also, so far as Statcast is concerned, the owner of the strongest throwing arm in baseball this season -- or at least that’s what being atop the newly released arm strength leaderboards for position players, available publicly for the first time, would imply.

As big a liberal as I am, the Braves should just do what the Indians didn't. Just ignore it, then when the cry gets loud enough issue a statement saying that given the history and the legacy of the franchise there are no plans to change it now or in the future. The Braves have already done enough by getting rid of that 70s/80s logo. For the record, the Redskins did the right thing, but Commanders was the wrong choice.

It almost feels like the Braves have outlasted the angry mob of cancel culture heros. The Indians and Redskins were forced to change but I believe the Braves have done it the right way. They've formed partnerships with local tribes. Hate it or love it, they no longer encourage the Chop, they no longer hand out foam tomahawks. Even the site Talking Chop was forced to change its name. Seems at least for now the Braves are safe and the angry mob has turned it's attention elsewhere.

Judge hits 61.
If Judge played for Seattle or Cleveland, would ESPN break into football Saturday for every one of his at bats? And if so — granted I think it's a bigger story because he's a Yankee — are they doing it because it's an AL record or because they're taking an editorial stance on Bonds/McGwire/Sosa?

Been lots of writers talking about how MLB is trying to whitewash Bonds' record with the Judge infatuation of passing Maris.
Maris' son also says Judge would be true single-season leader. But that also is self-preservation since Maris wouldn't be an afterthought.

Phillies losing in Washington, down 10-4 going to the bottom of the 8th. They do play another game later tongiht.
But are they about to choke away the last WC spot? Brewers have been so bad but the Phillies are awful.
Get off my lawn!
No Alacantara this weekend. Marlins shut him down for the year

Aaron Judge has hit 61 home runs this year. Tony Gwynn hit 62 home runs between the years 1990 and 1997.
