NO THANK YOU!!!
deGrom will cost more than what Dansby AND Eovaldi will cost.
Let's assume Eovaldi can be had for roughly $15 million AAV. If deGrom's looking to be paid > $40 million per like Scherzer is, nicely nudge Morton into retirement and combine his $20 million with that $10 million and see if Manaea will take 3/$20 million AAV plus an option and see if Anderson, Muller, and Grissom (and even Waters if that's what it takes) will pry Reynolds away from the Pirates to play LF.
Trading Pina should cover the raises for Matzek and Minter, and that would put payroll at ~ $159 million even if you gave Dansby 5/100 with roughly $25 million left to cover arbitration raises for Fried and Riley and possibly another pen arm WITHOUT pushing total salaries beyond where they are right now. If Soroka somehow miraculously returns to health, you'd have a 6-man rotation if you didn't shift Strider to a late-inning role - and you'd still have Davidson, Elder, Shuster, and Tarnok for your depth.
That would mean your core (Acuna, Ozzie, Olson, Dansby, Harris, and Contreras) would be controlled through 2027 and you'd also control Riley, Reynolds, Wright, Manaea, and Eovaldi through 2025.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Depending on how he pitches when he comes back, I'll gladly take DeGrom on a short term deal. No more than 3 years though.
If the Braves do end up playing chicken with the SS market and end up with Arcia everyday, there are few obvious ways to spend on upgrades for the roster.
It’s basically judge and blah in LF, so perhaps a trade for an expensive LF could be found. So the only other place is the BP and maybe replacing Anderson and/or Morton in the rotation. I would never give degrom a long term deal though.

We have a 20 million option on Morton and that seems about extremely likely to not be picked up. So we'll have 20 million freed up and the the need for a starter. And it's actually a decent class for SP. Syndergaard, Bassit, Clevinger, Manea, Kluber, Davies, Duffy, Kershaw and few others. Several MOR types with a few TOR types sprinkled in. Will be interesting to see who we target.
Touki traded to the Angels for cash.

The Angels could trade Syndergaard at the deadline. He’d probably be an expensive rental but he’d be a great fit.

Time to start thinking about what additions we can make in the back end of the pen and whether versatile position players could be added in those trades.

You can never have enough good bullpen arms. It's only a matter of time before Chavez turns back into Chavez.

Chris Taylor out indefinitely with a left foot fracture
3 nl eastern division teams are currently playoff teams
I noticed that Miami is currently only 3 games out of a Wild Card spot with a record of 39-40.
Then I saw that they are 12-1 against Washington. Enjoy those last 6 games against the Nationals.
