    Manny Pina Out for Season

He is having season ending wrist surgery for ligament and cartilage damage.

I guess Contreras is up for the remainder of the season. Hopefully he keeps up his good hitting.

This sucks. Not only do we lose a really good catcher, but it pretty much eliminates the option to move Contreras around.

Takes possibly most viable trade chip off the market as well.

    We already traded Lango.

    Why would we trade Contreras?

D'Arnaud is only signed through next year. And with catcher's luck he could get injured tomorrow.

We could always trade for the other Contreras brother. Should be a rental so wouldn't cost too much in prospect capital.

Then you run with 3 catchers with 1 being an acting DH.

    Not ideal, but passable.

    Not necessarily IMO.

Travis is going to play the majority of games back there anyway, so they could conceivably add Tromp to the roster by moving Pina to the 60-Day immediately and still have Contreras move around. Of course that would still cost an active roster spot, but with Acuna back they COULD have him as the backup CF (with Heredia sent down) and Contreras playing a little all over.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
