C'mon...do you expect or want him to get up there and say "my closer is ****" and tell us what his better options are? That's not going to happen, and it shouldn't. No manager would do that, unless he's really stupid. And although Snit takes a lot of **** from this group, he's not stupid. He doesn't excel with analytics, which is what everybody points out, but he handles people well and this would be a people-handling situation.

Predict they'll go to Iglesias and either "we're going to give Kenley a chance to sort it out in some less stressful situations" or he'll take a few days off for a trumped-up injury, strained back or calf or something they can't prove or disprove.

I think he has little control…

No way in hell a guy this stubborn about his veteran closer and experience would thrust medium talents like Davidson or Lee into a start during the World Series.

I think it’s something as simple as we are paying this guy $18m to close games..:he’s the closer.

It's not looking good. Gotta have it at 1 game by our series imo.

I think Snit has a good deal of control during the regular season. The playoffs are a different story because they are a different animal.

Don’t get me wrong if it were me I’d probably yank him from the closers role after last night. That being said if Jansen can get back to his first half self he could still be extremely valuable and while we we’re fighting for the division we do have the top WC spot essentially locked up so there’s some room to give him more rope.

Also because of his pitching style is not exactly the kind of guy you can just throw out there at any time. He can really only be brought in during a clean inning. So if we’re looking to move him from high leverage spots we’re talking about having him start the 5th or 6th inning.

I have no idea of knowing (and neither does anyone else), but I get the impression that a lot of framework decisions are made above Snitker. I'm not ripping that approach and Snitker isn't the greatest in-game manager, but I wouldn't be surprised if some elements of roster-building and usage are determined by the analysts.

That's certainly why AA brought him in at $18M per.

OTOH, that's exactly why he brought Will Smith in at $13M per, and eventually abandoned that when he lost effectiveness. (Yes, he's been tolerably effective the last three weeks, if you want to die on that hill be my guest).

And he's also paying Iglesias $16M per. Might be time to change out pricey relievers.

I know we've lost the last two, but anybody else look at the Mets and think they're running on bald tires? That offense is nothing to write home about, deGrom is (they hope) a six inning pitcher and Scherzer out, seems like they got problems.

Michael Harris has more fWAR in his first 93 games than Acuna did in his first 111.

    Harris 4.5 fWAR
    Acuna 4.0 fWAR

Could Harris be our best player next year?

To be fair at the beginning of his career Acuña was playing LF next to Inciarte most days instead of CF which would drag his WAR down. But the LH Acuña narrative does seem to be holding.

Olson has a .306 OBP since June 1st. Is he a bad player now?

    Wait, don’t answer that.

Probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to give him a day or two off and then have him hitting in front of Riley to see if that gets him a little better pitches to hit.

Really needs a break though - looked seriously lost after slamming his helmet and barking at himself last night.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Sometimes giving a night off isn’t about resting a guy but just letting him watch a game and reset the brain.
