Sale replaces Soroka as the potential 5th starter in this scenario. Both guys have roughly the same upside and the same high probability of injury/regression. Rosario and Ozuna roughly make up the difference in price. Sox take on more money in 2023, but push away less money in 2024.

I sure would like to dump Ozuna on some one but if you got Soroka and Sale both of whom may never pitch again, Id rather gamble less money on Soroka.

Don’t know who Jeffery May is but he said this today. Link below paragraph.

    Atlanta Braves

While the Braves would love to keep Dansby Swanson in the fold, they are reported to be in the race, if not the outright favorite, to pick up Trea Turner from the Dodgers. Their focus in these trades seems to be their bullpen rather than their bats, with Jesse Chavez being re-signed and Nick Anderson reportedly to follow suit. After swapping Jake Odorizzi for Kolby Allard from the Rangers, the Braves are likely to use some of that spare cash that they have laying around for making sure that they can stay competitive in the June trade window.

    Acuna
    Turner
    Olson
    Riley

That would be quite a top 4

I think Turner is the preference. If they wanted Swanson they would have signed him by now imo.

Why y’all fall for these fake insiders every year to me baffles me

I’ll trust the Honey Ham guy over some random national insider who some how has the latest gossip on 30 clubs.

Well, DOB said he doesnt see us signing a 30+ million dollar player. So i guess we'll just have to wait and see. Would love Turner on the Braves though.

I can’t imagine a front office that’s known for being tight lipped and never leaking anything would divulge their intentions to the guy who the last time he broke something was the Braves signing Ken Griffey Jr, which was done it such a ham fisted way that Griffey backed out and pissed off renouned nice guy Tim Hudson.

This is from Rosenthal a little while ago on the Braves, the SS stuff seems to come from DOB imo.

The Braves are not considering trading right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. — or, for that matter, any other young player they have signed to an extension.

While the club, as a matter of policy, does not award no-trade clauses, a player who signs an extension does it with the implicit understanding he will not be traded. Obviously, things can change — a player, for example, eventually might want out. But if the Braves break the trust they’ve created internally, players will become more resistant to the extensions that have positioned the team for long-term success.

Two other things that are highly unlikely for the Braves: The signing of deGrom or a shortstop other than Dansby Swanson. If the Braves cannot keep Swanson, they probably will be out of the picture for Trea Turner, Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts, all of whom figure to be more expensive. Which is why president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos at the GM meetings mentioned Orlando Arcia and Vaughn Grissom as internal options.

No player currently with the Braves will earn more than $22 million over the course of his contract, seemingly creating the flexibility for a major expenditure. But the Braves are reluctant to enter into a deal with any player who takes up too high a percentage of their payroll, knowing in future seasons the salaries of their young players will rise.

I don’t trust Rosenthal either. AA doesn’t let anybody in on what he’s thinking or doing.

The money is a wash after you trade include Ozuna and Rosario. We'd actually save a little this year.

I am fine with Grissom but I think we need someone better that Orlando Arcia. Maybe Elvis Andrus to a 1 year deal. The same way we used Brandon Phillips a few years ago before Albies.

We are a legit WS contender, there’s no way Grissom or Arcia will be the SS going into ST. He’s a backup and only a backup.

    Arcia is better than Grissom.

Yes but Grissom still a prospect and Arcia is not going to get any better.

If we cant sign none of the top shortstops or trade for a good one. Arcia is not the answer and Grissom still need time to develop.
