They later qualified there was no third person

If they were let in, and there was no third person, who the heck let them in? Am I supposed to believe Paul opened the door and then walked back to attacker to start getting assaulted?

Media is asking, that’s why it’s ****ing news reporters posting the updates they get from the police department. It’s an active investigation into a crime. Perhaps there are bits on information the police aren’t ready to make public quite yet.
Nothing the police originally said makes sense. And their clarifications raise more questions than answered.

What Im convinced did NOT happen was a right wing lunatic circumvented the security of the third most powerful person in the world in an attempt to kill Nancy pelosi, the police keeps telling us conflicting stories of how any why they were able to intervene.
I'm happy to change my mind if the pelosis release the security footage of the break in, or even the police release the body cam footage of the intervention.

my deux sous with respect to a couple of these
1) I suspect the caller (Paul Pelosi) told the 911 operator that the home invader claimed to be a friend (of Nancy's). It could use some clarification. But not a whole lot.
2) The initial police report said they encountered an unknown person (not a third person). They have subsequently clarified they only encountered 2 people. So this unknown person (unknown to the officer who wrote the initial report) was either Pelosi or the perp.
3) There are pictures a broken glass door with glass shattered. Seems to have been the point of entry.
I suspect the urban legends will continue to grow and proliferate. This thread will undoubtedly get even juicier than it currently is. So far it has exceeded my expectations!

I think this is a reasonable question. I'm curious about whether the security alarm went off. But people do sometimes neglect to set it.

This witness statement seems to suggest it was a pretty quick gap between the initial break-in and police response:
SFPD Officer Colby Wilmes was able to interview a witness, Witness 1, who saw an individual in all black, carrying a large black bag on his back, walking near the Pelosi residence where Witness 1 was parked. Witness 1 was working private security at an address nearby. Witness 1 then heard what sounded like banging on either a door or car and then heard the sirens within a minute or two.

It sounds like Pelosi was able to convince DePape to come to the door with him, something that might have worked because DePape is ****ing bananas.
Hell, just read this portion of his statement to police:
DEPAPE stated that Pelosi was in bed and appeared surprised by DEPAPE. DEPAPE told Pelosi to wake up. DEPAPE told Pelosi that he was looking for Nancy. Pelosi responded that she was not present. Pelosi asked how they could resolve the situation, and what DEPAPE wanted to do. DEPAPE stated he wanted to tie Pelosi up so that DEPAPE could go to sleep as he was tired from having had to carry a backpack to the Pelosi residence.
