He is. Threw 142 innings last year that ended with one start in Gwinnett so should be plenty stretched out with no innings limits.

yeah, I didn't know much about him.. looked him up and he doesn't walk many so that is good. Stuff didn't seem too bad from what I was able to watch. hoping to get another inning so I can watch the whole thing.

Saw his sinkers were coming in strong in the 94-95 mph range... that's more respectable than I thought he was velocity wise.

Hitting on ANOTHER position player seems crazy but here we are.

He struck someone out on a 91. Then next pitch was 92 for a ball. 94 strike. K on 96. Not sure how accurate the gun is. But they were all fastballs.

I said this last year when he came up, but I really hope Grissom hits because I think he has the potential to be a great leader out there. Seems to have a real positive personality presence.

I am also getting on the Dodd train. Walk rate sitting at 2.0 in the minors, strikes out more than a guy per inning, stuff seems good enough. I remember hearing that some folks were pretty high on him coming out and suggesting that he shouldn't be viewed as a typical senior sign. I wouldn't be surprised to see him emerge a bit in the 5th starter conversation- that's probably his ceiling, but he seems like the type of guy who could reliably and cheaply eat innings with an ERA in the low 4s.

This seems the right take. We all just have to remember his 90 percent positive outcome is a good 5 starter. We expect him to 4-6 innings and give up 2-3 runs.

He should never go through a line up 3 times. If you need to win the game he should only go through the line up once. At least based on what he’s shown so far.

He’s a fifth starter. If you want to win score 5 plus runs.

I haven’t seen any games so not sure if he’s hitting the ball hard and if he’s facing real major league players.

Defense must be solid so far as no big threads on it.

Hitting would be great. And for me hitting could be much less than we’ve had. He could struggle like Riley early. He could just be a 2-3 war guy.

It seems crazy that rf, cf, 3b, 2b all are very good to stars. Braves could hit on Grissom in my book and not have him be one of those guys.

Not an impressive resume but is an RHH who can play CF. Appears to have good speed, but high K-rate (especially at the big league level). Harris doesn't hit LHP very well and they may be looking for a RHH to spell him against tougher LHPs. I think that was the thought behind Luplow, but Pillar, White and Wall might figure in the calculus if they have big (and I mean really big for the last two) springs. OF has two guys set in Acuna and Harris, but after that, it's anyone's guess.

Thanks. I agree that he doesn’t have a track record of past success. Mainly wondering why he seems to be getting more time in ST than.almost anyone else. Kind of reminds me of when Brooks Conrad sort of came out of nowhere to be a major contributor that one year before disappearing again.

Surprised we haven't seen Luplow, but I think we are going to see a lot of Pillar, White, and Wall to give them a chance to make the team (or at least to see if they can should hang around in Gwinnett). I see Milligan is getting quite a few ABs as well. LHH with some positional versatility. Probably slated for Mississippi.

Hoping someone with more knowledge of benchmarks than I have can share what kind of picture this paints for Dodd.

People are getting awfully carried away over 5 Spring Training games.

Sounds like Luplow has an oblique issue.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us break camp with Pillar replacing Heredia as head cheerleader and very rare hitting appearances. If White has a huge spring, the Braves may push up their schedule to DFA Ozuna.

I thought Twit has already come out and said Oboozuna is going to be on the roster on opening day. Maybe not though.

So far I have like Wall and White a whole lot better than Rosorrio or Oboozuna.. but we will see as camp progresses.

You're telling me that Dodd and Allard aren't going to finish 1-2 in the 2023 Cy Young voting?
