Maybe Charlie can find some of his 2018 magic. I forgot he was a really good bench player that year. He was worth 1.1 fwar.

The 2018 team got some expected performances. Charlie had 1.1 war, Camargo was a 3 war player. Markakis and Ender had good years too.

There's no planet anywhere in the galaxy where Culberson is a better player than Arcia. We can fWAR and bWAR this to death, but Arcia can be more than just a guy standing at the SS position. Arcia's performance hasn't come anywhere near equaling the buzz around him when he was coming up in the Milwaukee system, but he was a Top 100 prospect at one point. Culberson gets grit-and-gristle style point, but that's about it.

The only thing I find odd is that everyone bought the front office Kool-Aid over the winter regarding Grissom as the 2023 opening day SS.

After one game the Braves are already alone in first place. Let's see if they can go wire to wire.

I always like to post this on April 1st. The story of the man who could have been the greatest pitcher in history. The Curious Case of Sidd Finch.

Sean Murphy already out of the lineup in game 2. Snit is going with Ozuna and Rosario in DH and LF

I'm relatively new to the DH so trying to remember the rule. What happens if we have both catchers in the game (one at DH) and the one starting at C has to come out? Do we lose the DH?

We would lose the DH in that case — which is why we need a 3rd catcher on the bench since bench players aren’t as important as they used to be.

I just don’t understand trading for Murphy and then doing this arrangement. It may only be one game to get Eddie some ABs, but when you trade for a player of his caliber and extend him, play him!

Agree. We have 6 OFs. You'd think we could go to 5 and have another C on the roster if they plan on giving both d'Arnaud and Murphy time at DH. I don't know if Hillard or Pillar is the back-up CF, so one is needed, but there's a bit of a redundancy with Ozuna and Rosario still in tow.

Yeah I think I'd rather have Tromp than Pillar at this point. Rosario can cover RF and Acuna CF if they have to do that.

I mean, in a situation where we lose Harris and Hilliard for some reason.

Yeah. I would agree that Tromp would seem to be more valuable than Pillar at this point.

One thought is that they may still be working on a contract swap type deal with Ozuna, but don’t want to sink his value by benching him. That could partly explain the need for six OF’s for the moment.

Cox had his guys. Snitker has his guys. And Pillar was drafted by the Jays when Anthopoulos was GM there and Anthopoulos was still GM when Pillar made his major league debut, so it may be that Anthopoulos has his guys too. I don't really get the veteran presence argument with Pillar because there are a lot of experienced guys on the team already.

That cuck Manfred deserves a lot of credit for possibly the best change to baseball in recent memory.

Not sure how I feel about that. Watching at home, quick games are great. In person, I like being at the park a good 3 hours

The Royals @ Cubs Spring Training game I went to last weekend came in under two hours. It honestly felt like a waste of a drive to Mesa, at that length. And I heard a decent number of fans in my section grumbling about the quick duration.
