I feel like the Rangers and Orioles are similar teams. Great offense, good relievers, but they are gonna have issues with starting pitching and eventually those relievers are gonna break down. What the Orioles are doing is amazing to me because I can't even name one of their starting pitchers.

    Alek Manoah fell off hard.

6.36 ERA and he’s actually outperformed his FIP.

Wow on the Jacob deGrom news. Considering how many were connecting him to the Braves in the offseason, that could have been trouble

Would’ve topped Pedro as the greatest peak in MLB history.

But imagine Pedro with todays knowledge of how to get max velocity

edit: Also imagine Pedro against a league that's not primarily juiced and strikes out at an absurd rate.

I’m partial to Arizona Randy Johnson (maybe Koufax) but yea. I think JDG could have done something similar to that.

Koufax is a pretty good comp. Late bloomer who just elevated.

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal says the Royals have told teams they'd like to pair Aroldis Chapman with another veteran in trade talks in order to shed salary.
It's not a must, according to Rosenthal, but it's something they're looking at. Rosenthal speculates on a Chapman-Scott Barlow pairing, which is odd since Barlow has positive trade value and will bring a decent return himself. If the Royals are truly looking to trim salary, the injured Brad Keller or Amir Garrett would make more sense to attach to Chapman.

Not too surprising someone increasing velocity as most decline is oft injured, but it's too bad even so. Particular outside of NY.

Marlins are 32-17 vs. all teams outside of Atlanta and NYM. They are 3-11 against those two.

Proof that AA is WAY smarter than we are?

The 4 most popular names mentioned to replace Dansby:

Trea Turner: Currently has a .676 OPS and .5 bWAR after signing an 11 year 270 million dollar deal

Carlos Correa: .660 OPS and .2bWAR after signing for 6 years and 200 million.

Willy Adames: .700 OPS and .9 bWAR. His 86.1 EV is by far the lowest of his career.

Amed Rosario (My top choice given what I assumed would have been a low acquisition cost): He's been the 5th worst defender in baseball according to DRS and currently sports -.6 bWAR.

And 1 more for good measure. Elvis Andrus was a name thrown around as sort of a last resort type of option. And there were more than a couple posters who couldn't believe we let him sign with the Chi-Sox for a paltry 3 million. He currently has a .516 OPS and -.5 bWAR

Swanson has been pretty good for the Cubs, but i'm not that upset about losing him. Arcia has been a great for the price.
