The majority of us probably agree with you. But in order to gain news fans, they really had to do something about the length of games and all wasted time.

Are they targeting Fox News or CNN fans.

Nfl games are 3+ hours, and they have no trouble attracting fans. Not sure if a quicker game is what will bring new fans. Mlb needs to get their product on as many TVs as possible

Easier for NFL to get away with it because it’s once a week typically on the weekends. Being a baseball fan demands much more from you.

The real secret sauce for baseball is getting you sucked into the daily action. It’s much easier to do that if games are ending around 9 or 10 pm vs 11 pm

I think one of the problems is that baseball started to trying to mimic football with a lot of unnecessary in-game strategy. With free substitution in football, coaches can design all kinds of plays and schemes depending on game situations. Baseball is far more static and it simply can't be played the same way. I think the 3-batter rule for pitchers and the pitch/hit clock are great new rules that will cut time off of games without sacrificing quality. I'm still not sold on the shift rules, but what I've seen a few more balls get through in what I've watched at MLB thus far.

What the F is going on with Duvall? Hitting .571 with 6 XBH and an OPS of 1.957. I guess he wins the first weekend of the season.

I was listening to mlb on xm this morning and they were talking about an interview they had with AA on opening day where he said that he was trying to sign a TOR starter this off-season. Obviously didn’t come to pass but interesting in the fact that he blatantly said that. Probably talking about deGrom or Verlander if I had to guess

He isn't worn down from playing CF yet. Give it time.

Phillies get swept by Texas and open the season 0-3. And now head to NY to face the Yankees.

Honestly, I feel we are going to drop 2 of 3 in St. Louis....Morton gets crushed by them, having a terrible career record and Dodd making his major league debut. He will be facing the best competition of his career.

Honestly, I feel like we are going to take 2/3 if not sweep.
Something about this team is different. Yesterday not withstanding-
I think they will use Schuster’s disaster to show Dodd exactly what not to do.
And Charlie knows what he’s doing.

And this offense ? Bring it on.
Only concern is the third game is a day game…:)

I expect that the genie will go back in the bottle. He just had an amazing first weekend, but we've all watched him follow a hot streak with a perfect imitation of a ceiling fan.

He is a streaky hitter, but I feel like Fenway is such a good stadium for him to play in.

Agree. I have never really liked him as a player, but I was surprised his market was as weak as it was. $7 million isn't exactly chicken feed, but there are worse players being paid more. That said, he is 34 and a Type-1 diabetic, so those can really dampen the enthusiasm of buyers.

Pretty sure he is going to be a 30+ HR player this season. For $7m that's a steal IMO.

Yeah, I’d much rather have Duvall than Ozuna.
