You guys are a tough crowd. Great first game back. He will be better without the distractions of his first game back.

Soroka gonna have a tough task next start. Arizona is #10 in offensive fWAR. Oakland was 28th tonight, not 30th

Congratulations to Mike Soroka. Very solid first game back. So glad to have him in the rotation again.

Agreed. Regardless of the actual outcome of tonight's game what was important tonight was that Mike Soroka made his MLB return and was able to pitch 6 innings. A great place to build from.

We will know with a fair degree of certainty what Sorokas arsenal looks like in the morning. I suspect the conclusion will be disappointing.

To say the offense mailed this one in is insulting to what efficiency the postal service has. The offense thought about mailing it in, it slipped their mind, and they took a nap instead.

Yup. I'd be hard-pressed to think he'll be anywhere near the top-of-the-rotation guy from before. His old delivery gave his arsenal, especially his sinker, more of a top-to-bottom devastating sink than his new east-to-west approach. Not saying he won't do it, but I think we'll see a No. 4 or 5 most of the time. Of course, I hope I'm wrong but his "stuff" last night was average to very slightly above at times.

Soroka's movement on his pitches wasn't great but not awful. The only thing bad was his extension to the plate. Exit velocity was fantastic. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savan...r-pitching-mlb

They need to have more patient at bats, and I don't understand why the never bunt, Acuna, Harris and Albies all have speed. Harris especially should try that every so often if he continues to struggle

The homer on Soroka's change-up wasn't that well struck at all.

And do you think Rosario gets to the ball if it's barreled? bro is ass defensively lol

I am telling you if RaSorrio throws that ball to Riley, that inning is completely different. The guy from 2nd committed as soon as he saw RaSorrio throw the ball.. if it hits Riley, he has him dead at 3rd with Arcia covering. now 2 out and only a run in and a guy at 2nd. I have a feeling the pitch secquence to Nobody is different and he doesn't hit the homer.. Then Twit doesn't punt that game with lucas luser and who knows how it ends. Rasorrio should be benched for at least the rest of the season for that. maybe even offered to the A's for some gum.

I won't even mention his other stupid throw that lead directly to another run. He has no clue how bad he is and continues to do stupid things. This is where Twit needs to sit him down and remind him how slow he is and how weak his arm is and if he thinks differently then he will no longer have playing time. No more trying to steal.. no more trying to be a hero in the field. Just make the fundamental plays and continue to suck at the plate and be below replacement level player.. stop be a super below replacement player.

Yeah, if we're going to play a LF who can't field you might as well play Ozuna there so we can have our catcher DH. Makes the offense better.

The FA was at 93.6 which is just a bit below average velocity for a RHP in 2023. His 7.6" of "rise" is Grade 40, and the 4.1" of run is about Grade 45. This is a bit below average pitch, and while it isn't good it's better than expected. Let's call it "usable".

The SI was 92.6 which is also below average velocity. It has above average sink with just 4.8" of "rise", and an average amount of arm-side run at 8.7". This is an average or better pitch.

The SL at 84.4 is right around average velocity. The -2.0" of vertical movement is plus or plus-plus, and the 2.6" of glove-side break is average. This is a good downer slider, and if he executes it will be an out pitch.

The CH at 82.6 is 10+ mph slower than the FA/SI, which is plus-plus. It has below average sink, but plus-plus arm-side run. This is his best pitch, and likely why he threw it 23 times last night.

So a useable FA, an average or better SI, and a pair of out pitches in the SL and CH. Depending on command, that's a legit junk-baller MOR guy that verges on a #2 when things are going well..

how does a 4 seamer and 2 seamer get graded with in the same FA categorey. He was throwing a straight 94-95 four seamer and then 92-93 2 seamer with arm side run..

He seams to have a sinker and 2 seamer that look different. maybe I am confusing his slider, but he has a pitch that breaks down and one that breaks arm side. I know they are the same pitch in essence.

Not sure I am a fan of him throwing a 4 seamer really. I like his ability to tunnel his 2 seamer, change and slider.. If he wants to throw a 4 seamer up in the zone on occasion, then that can be there.
