Can't decide if i'm happier about the chance to see Smith-Shawver or that I don't have to watch Luetge pitch again. That dude was my least favorite bullpen arm in a long time.

Is he going to start or relieve or
I think he'll be used as a long reliever. He can't do any worse than what we've seen so far from the pen.
Rome -> Mississippi -> Gwinnett -> Atlanta before the All Star break....impressive.

Unless there's bigger concerns about Wright and Fried that they aren't telling us, I don't think this move makes a whole ton of sense.

A 70 FA and 70 SL would be . . . something.

Max has started long tossing as of last week but is still a while away. It sounds like Kyle Wright is toast when it comes to this season at least.
The bullpen has been overly exposed by the rotation being decimated, so I am okay with anything to give our staff a jolt and stability. Hopefully AJSS can do that.

Smith-Shawver’s rise from A ball to majors within same season has far surpassed even Strider’s. But #Braves have an obvious need and he’s been dominant this season.
No input yet from Bowman yet, i'm sure he's still at the buffet

This has to be for pen help. That pen is complete trash and they need to give twit option to turn to. JJ is next on block when we can upgrade his sorry ass.
Coppy
What in the hell?
I don’t think they’ll bring him up to be a reliever. They did with Strider last year but I’m not sure that’s the case here. Wright won’t be back for a while and Fried has resumed throwing. Strider, Morton, Soroka, and Shuster is what we have right now so we have a big rotation need. I’m sure Encheff will have a good breakdown on him soon.

110 minor league innings from a guy who didn't really pitch until his senior year in high school. I'm not saying it can't work, but if you're burning three years of control in a situation like this, you better be right. I know I'm more cautious than most, but I hate watching guys learn at the major league level.
People tend to forget that Strider was drafted out of high school by the Guardians and did pitch at Clemson. I know there will be inevitable comparisons, but they are different animals.
This would make more sense if it were August and we were chasing, but right now we're well up in the division and that's probably not going to change.
