I think decisions on line-up construction are made at a level above the dugout.

That and it's a pretty common sabemetric idea to have your best hitter batting 2nd. In an ideal world that's probablly Ronnie but he's made it clear he's going to bad leadoff. Olson is the next best guy so that's why he was there earlier in the year. It just took a slump to get him moved down. He's certainly a better fit to bat 2nd than Albies.

True, but I wonder if Olson was taking pitches to accommodate Acuna's desire to run. I have no idea of knowing that, but if you are right behind a guy who is going to steal 60+ bases, that's probably a consideration. Moving Olson down takes that pressure off of him to some extent.

Just think of that record if we had 5 true ace pitchers and 10 quality backups if they got hurt

You joke but before the 90's expansion Atlanta was the highest stadium above sea level and Fulton County Stadium was known as the launching pad. Balls travel well in Atlanta and always have. Plus this team may have the best offense ever.

It is not lost on me that I am watching something truly special …..

I’ve been watching the Braves - pitch by pitch - since opening day of the 1982 season.

This is the best team I’ve ever seen.

I'm really encouraged by Jiménez's considerable strides this season. Last night, he hit 97 with ease on his fastball and was up from 89 to 93 with his changeup.

I went from being slightly worried about the bullpen a month ago to pretty damn confident today. A playoff combination of Lee/Yates/Johnson/Jiminez/Minter/Iglesias with Hand, Tonkin and McHugh (I'm guessing?) waiting for long relief is extremely deep with rich, high-end talent. And that's not even counting the chance that Anderson or Chavez return.

I would think Chavez takes Collins spot. I still can't believe we haven't gotten one update on him. It had to be broken with him being out this long.

I’d rather the change stay at 89

Even the triple he gave up was a pitch that was a borderline strike. Really just a good piece of hitting for Volpe to get such good contact on it.

And I feel like Harris might have got a bad read on that one as well. Certainly not an easy out, but it's one I thought he should have got to.

So replace this lineup with 9 Austin Riley’s and you’ll get a similar result. Decent

Half of the lineup is arguably better than Riley so it makes sense.

In his first 4G/10 PA since being acquired at the deadline Nicky Lopez has been worth .5 fWAR

Who the heck is Luke Williams? His profile says he’s a SS, but the Braves called him up as an OF. I was okay with Wall for the last guy on the bench.
