Sat out the entire 2023 season after being cut by the White Sox on the last day of spring training. Played ten seasons with all but a handful with the White Sox; two of those where he was either an everyday player or close to that. Has played a lot of 2B, SS, and 3B. Some OF experience as well. Braves did not choose or lose anyone in the Major League Phase of the Rule 5 draft.
Braves did not lose anyone in the Minor League Phase, but did draft 27-year-old LHP Tyler Thomas from the Mets' system. Thomas was the Cubs' 7th round draft pick out of Fresno State in 2017. Traded by the Cubs to the Rangers for (wait for it) Jesse Chavez. Thomas was in the Texas system until 2023. Started the 2023 season in Independent League ball and later signed with the Mets and finished the year in AAA. Played in the Arizona Fall League. Good K numbers (304 in 270.2 IP).
