For what little we hear, it just doesn’t seem like there was ever any mutual interest with Rodriguez for whatever reason.

I think AA is working a extension with Max Fried. Probably that’s holding everything.
I would have signed him for that, but who knows if there was any interest. I trust AA regardless.

I think it will be Lugo and/or Cease… or someone no one has ever talked about
Stockholm, more densely populated than NYC - sturg
I don’t think it'll be Burnes, Glasnow, or anybody else that will walk next year and leave AA with losing 3 starters.

The Braves won 104 games last year, and if anything that understates how good they were. And they have six spots on the diamond locked up through the heat death of the universe. Anthopolous didn't really need to do anything this offseason, save for finding someone to stand in left field and filling out the bottom of the roster. The first box is checked, and the second is clearly an ongoing process. We all want another starter, but a lot of teams are going to do a lot worse than a top three of Strider, Fried and Morton. One of the advantages to being in the position the Braves are in right now is that you never have to do anything out of desperation.

People are wetting themselves over Soto/Judge/Stanton in the same lineup… but Judge and Stanton are never healthy.

I would have liked EdRod, but not at that price.
A little heftier than I imagined for E-Rod, but not by much. Figured he would get 20 per year, but l didn't think he'd get a 4th guaranteed year.

Chopping With The Braves And Rolling With The Tide
Very curious on the asking price. Dodgers have us beat by a light year on prospect capital, but I don't have any idea on what the Rays' asking price is.
Rodriguez deal doesn't look horrible but as others have said, that 4th year is a perilous river to cross. The thing that is a bit puzzling to me is that if they were/are talking about an extension with Fried, it would probably end up being richer in both years and AAV than Rodriguez' deal. Maybe that's why the line went dead.

I cant believe people are saying Yamamoto may get 300 million after never throwing an MLB pitch. I know hes 24 and has a ton of talent but 10/300? Thats a no thanks all day. Any team that signs him to that could end up regretting it before he ever turns 30.
If they can add Glasnow and someone like Lugo! Keep the rotation fresh.
SD really needs Tatis Jr to offensively bounce back to play LF. That contract looked large for a MVP caliber SS, but a 770 OPS RF? Yikes.
I'd be interested if they kicked in a good bit of money at the end of that contract, seeing as though they are in cost cutting mode.

People are getting too worked up about the Braves not signing another starter, but there's a solid pool of pitchers left in the market, including Yamamoto, Snell, Montgomery, Stroman Giolito, Lugo, Imanaga, Wacha, Flaherty, and more. Not to mention potential trade options.
