    It is an interesting contract, he could opt out but he will be 30 by the time he can opt out. And if his speed declines, who knows if he'll get a guaranteed contract for what he has now.

    Can he get more than 6/194 on the open market, because thats what they'd need to get if he opts out. Up to his agents to decline though, too early to tell.

    Dansby basically got that at a similar age. With inflation, I imagine he should blow past that amount unless he regresses. He’s already a better player than Dansby and has a chance to be the best SS in baseball.

    Its the Royals, he will probably regress hard then get a career debilitating injury.

    It's a Dodger Blue world.

    I fully expect them to land Adames and Devin Williams.

    Honestly, it's not a shock. He was not a premium FA as health is a huge red flag for him. And the Dodgers have the cash to keep him, he's an alltimerfor them so ther'es more value in them keeping him, than in letting him go as well.

    Honestly dont give two ****s about the Dodgers. I dont care if they win 150 games. What I care about is not having to face the Phillies in October.

    Astros sign Altuve to a 5 year extension. Kinda surprising a Boras client would sign before FA but Altuve probably wanted to stay and other teams knew that. Bregman probably hits the market now, you'd assume?

    Jose Altuve's new contract extension has a $15 million signing bonus. It will pay him $30 million from 2025-27 and $10 million in 2028 and 2029, source tells
    @TheAthletic
    . Total value of $125 million.

    Eh, he'll be 38-39 by the end of it. He's an incredible hitter. The last couple years probably will be bad but Houston is in rebuild mode by then. With alot of their core guys up for FA by then and their farm in awful shape.

    Who of the top-tier guys are still out there? Montgomery, Snell, ?. Mets are supposedly in on J.D. Martinez. Even after acquiring Burnes, I thought the Orioles might try to add someone like Snell, but the ask must be too high.

    Since FA started I always felt like Jordan Montgomery was a natural fit for Baltimore. Veteran with postseason experience. Not a ton of miles on his arm. Won't command as much as the higher end guys like Nola, Yamamato, and Snell. Of course, that was before Ohtani and Yamamato broke the market, back when I thought Montgomery would go for around 5/130.

    Only the Dodgers have handed put stupid money this offseason and that’s probably why these other guys are still available. Teams aren’t gonna pay Snell and Bellinger what they are wanting. They read the market wrong and here they are. Some team should be able to get these guys on a 1 year high AAV deal.

    Snell and Bellinger will end up signing a contract with a high AAV but around 4 years or less with multiple opt outs. Not sure about Montgomery. Wish we had the cash to offer him a nice cushion deal to fall back on if he doesn't get the years he wants. Something like 3/90 or 4/100.

    Every year there are guys who have to take a pillow deal due to misreading their market. I wish AA would plan around being the team sitting back waiting to scoop up that value.
