Huge bullet dodged.
Hopefully we try like Hell to get Yamamoto.

Watch Yankees overpay for Yamamoto!

Several sources are reporting the Braves offer was higher than the Phillies'.

If we were willing to give more than $25 million a year for Nola, a 9 year deal for $225 million would be perfectly reasonable for Yamamoto.
He will only be 34 when the contract expires. Gray is ALREADY 34.

Wonder if that takes Phillies out of it on snell. Surely they won't tie up even more on snell with wheeler on the market next year

The funny thing is Charlie Morton make 20 millions each of the last 3 years I believe…
In 7 years 24 millions for a 37 year old is not that bad. Probably market value…

I don’t think AA is going to sign a pitcher for more than a four year contract, but I could be wrong, right?

I do think years over AAV is the primary determinant for Anthopoulos. As pointed out with Morton, he'll go above perceived value on AAV as long as the term is right. He's deviated from that with the core offensive players (and we'll see how that turns out), but his approach on pitching seems to revolve around one- and two-year deals with a healthy AAV.
