One industry insider predicted that even after acquiring Jarred Kelenic from the Mariners and signing Joe Jiménez, Reynaldo López and Pierce Johnson for a combined $70.3 million, the Braves aren’t done.

“The Braves have another big move in them,” the source said, adding that Atlanta GM Alex Anthopoulos “is lathered up.”
"Lathered up" should never be used in this context. lmao.

Sounds like Eduardo Rodriguez plans to sign fairly soon, likely before Ohtani. He's in Nashville meeting with teams.

Who is the favorite for the Japanese pitcher?

Probably the Yankees... sounds like his market is getting a bit absurd with rumors he could end up with $300 million plus at this point.

I am very glad those rumors of the Braves pursuing Dayton Moore during the various GM transitions in the mid-10's never came to fruition. Imagine this franchise with Moore at the helm instead of Anthopolous.

If Moore had been a GM in the late 80's through the mid to late 90s, he'd probably be a hall of famer. He's an analog GM and is excellent at being an analog GM, but it's a digital world. His way of doing things was obsoleted.

I think we are definitely going to be trading Gonzalez, and probably Iglesias too. We're up against the 2nd Luxury tax level and I doubt AA has the clearance to go much (if any) over that. For that reason, here is a couple of ideas I have floated around.

Option 1: Raisel Iglesias, Bryce Elder, Vaughn Grissom, Marco Gonzalez and cash to the Rays for Tyler Glasnow and filler. Money is basically a wash this year. Maybe we eat a little of Iglesias's contract in 2025 as well. May have to swap AJSS for Elder. It's hard to peg Glasnow's price given his injury history so this is just spit-balling

Option 2: Marco Gonzalez, Raisel Iglesias and around 8 million in cash to the Orioles for whatever we can get. This is a complete salary dump for us but gives the O's a good closer to replace Bautista and a back end starter for around 20 million total for 2024. We use the freed up money to either sign a pitcher like Stroman/E-Rod, or we trade for Glasnow/Burnes/Cease/etc.

He’s at least gone to a somewhat analytical team in the Rangers. Maybe he’s gone there to learn some analytics since he works in the FO there now.

Heyman: Red Sox stepping up efforts on free agent RHP Seth Lugo. Four or five others, including Braves, interested.
