Lopez also made 3.7 million in 2023 and was likely going to be DFAed by the Royals this offseason so they didn't have to pay him in arbitration. Lopez can pick it but is an awful hitter and is essentially a backup level player.

Will the Braves bring Lopez back? Hard to say. But he would likely earn twice as much in arbitration that Arcia is being paid. Don't see the Braves doing that.

I like Arcia and super comfortable with him as the SS next year, but Lopez is a nice floor if Arcia falls off a cliff. I think that security is worth $3-4m

That’s why I have suggested a three year contract similar to Arcia’s.

I am not opposed to them paying him, but he and the Braves may prefer a three year deal at around $2.5 per rather than non-tender and look for a new team.

I have no idea how MLBTR is calculating the Braves 2024 payroll, but here are the numbers I have with 1 hole in the rotation and 2 holes on the bench...assuming the options for Morton ($20M) and Rosario ($9M) are picked up. There seems to be plenty of cash to fill those holes with good/great FAs.
