Given the state of our roster I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple NRIs selected and immediately optioned

I think Stassi will be gone (maybe with some money in an envelope to be delivered to the acquiring team). Fletcher is the back-up infielder and the question will be whether they view Wall as the guy to basically take the Hilliard position on the roster. Can play all the OF positions and has some minor league experience at 2B and brings speed to the table off the bench. If they see Wall as Billy Hamilton with a little more power. I think Wall makes the team. If Wall sticks, they still will likely opt for a RHH OF to platoon with Kelenic. Remains to be seen if that is Grissom or someone else.

I think the pitching is pretty much the way you have outlined it.

Right now I don't see it. Fletcher in AAA provides far more roster flexibility.

We are short one RHH OF who can play CF still. He’s gonna add one, right? We’re not rolling with Luplow and Martinez, right?

I didn’t realize Hicks could be had for $740k next season because the Yankees are still paying him. I think that makes him my new favorite for the 4th OF spot. Grichuk is the other option I’d like to see if he can be had for cheap.

I've been a Hicks advocate in the past, but not when the cost was prohibitive. That's not a problem now. May not hold up in CF over a long term, but certainly has continued to play the position even as he hits his mid-30s. With you on Grichuk as well.

I obviously have no way of knowing, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Braves do what they did last season and have a fifth OF instead of two back-up IFs. I think Wall is in the mix as the back-up CF and Billy Hamilton redux (unless he totally falls flat on his face in spring training). Martinez also fits that description but likely isn't as fast as Wall. If that's how they roll, there's less pressure on having a formal 4th OF who is a RHH that can play CF. All that said, I would greatly prefer either Hicks or Grichuk.

Bottom line: I don't see Luplow as the answer to any pertinent question.

There are some more options for bench among the NRIs but this configuration should give us the most flexibility. I will update more later

Any interest in signing Bauer for the 5th spot? He’s said he’ll sign for the league minimum on a 1yr deal

Just need a RH OF'er for the last bench spot. Still say that guy isnt with the team right now. Grichuk is the perfect fit for that spot but he's unsigned along with the Boras Big 4 and many other players.

I doubt anyone is gonna touch him. What transpired was pretty rough, regardless if it was "consensual" or not. And he has a couple other pending cases against him. I can't imagine any team would willingly take on the headache involved with signing him. And he wasn't the most well liked guy even before the SA allegations.

I would do it, but the Braves won't. But a fringe contender who really need a starter ought to do it. MKE. SAN. SFO. BOS. He's an asshole, but he's not a criminal (she is). And there are assholes all over baseball.

The Braves want newly acquired Jarred Kelenic to be in the line up in every game rather than start out in a platoon this season.
Braves GM Alex Anthopolous is making sure his new additions to the roster are getting as many reps as possible. Kelenic was acquired by the Braves in a trade with the Mariners in December and had his best career season in 2023. It appears the Braves are taking the same approach as they did with Michael Harris II and have no issues if there are early struggles. With how dominant Atlanta’s offense is, the team can likely handle a quiet start from the 24-year-old outfielder

Not technically, no. But 4 different women have accused him of SA. And with one of them, he has admitted on record to doing what he was accused of (though we now know it was "consensual", as a means to extort him). At the very least, you would have to agree it's a deeply concerning trend. Either way, it's a hard sale to your fans signing a guy who has been accused of sexual assaulting 4 different women.

Kelenic wasnt signficantly worse vs LH last year so I see no reason to platoon him until he proves he needs it. a RH LF platoon hitter should be easy to aquire at the treade deadline if we need it.

Its not a big enough need to justify possibly throwing off the team chemistry. Even without the allegations Bauer is a headcase.
