Shows that Boston must like Grissom a good bit and that they may be looking to take a run at Snell or Montgomery.

Yeah so we basically get a year of Sale (maybe a vesting option if that transfers) for $10.5 million and Grissom.

In isolation I don't mind taking a flier on Sale, just as, in isolation, I don't mind trading Grissom for a valuable piece for the big league team. But I'm not wild about trading Grissom for Sale.

The Red Sox are sending $17m for 2024, so Sale’s a $10m gamble who produced 2.6 fwar last year with good underlying numbers. His 2025 status: $20m club option that automatically vests with a top-ten Ctabus Young finish. I’m sure the Braves would be elated to have that vest, especially because (presuming Morton retires) Sale just slots in as the new Morton.

Well... he's only for sure under contract for 2024... the 2025 is a vesting option... not too sure how it works.

With old Morton and old Sale plus Fried leaving... we really need a couple of these high ceiling young guys to hit now (ala AJSS and Waldrep... may put Ynoa in there too)

Vaughn Grissom just seems like a prototypical Red Sox IF

Feel like even without a vesting of the 25 year 20M per year for what Sale could conceivably do is a bargain. Find it highly unlikely, barring injury, that Sale isn't here for 2 years 30.5M now. Great deal.

I feel similarly about this as I did about glasnow.

I wouldn’t count on sale. I would work with him to get enough innings for him to be sharp and ready for the playoffs.

Maybe that’s just 12-15 starts. Skip him all the time. Just be dialed in for post season bc he still has miss bat stuff.

    In 20 starts he had a 10.96 k/9 rate and a 2.54 BB/9 rate... let's keep that up.

Agreed - They will give him a bunch of breaks (or should) througout the year. If he is feeling strong in late September then we got a great shot.

Injury will be the key with him... if he stays healthy, it could easily be one of those out of nowhere brilliant moves

I hope Grissom can find a spot with Boston that he can play in the field naturally... I really think the kid has a chance to be a fantastic leader. Seemed like a great clubhouse presence even in youth.

Sportrac and a couple other sources describe it as a club option that could vest to a guarantee if certain benchmarks are hit. So I believe the Braves will control Sale’s rights in 2025 if they choose.
