Say what you will about Copolella, but that Heyward-Miller-Swanson/Inciarte sequence was some pretty nifty business.

That's not anything Angel could have actually seen though.

agreed. I went and looked it up and there is literally no rule for a 'check swing' it is completely up to the umpire's opinion. That is crazy.

Welp I guess he’s not an option to replace Strider if worst case scenario. I would almost trade AJSS if he can bring back a good veteran starter at some point. AJSS has a ton of ability but is having a tough time translating it to the field thus far.

I wouldnt do it for a rental. Would at least have to be someone with some control. Marlins are rebuilding, call and see what it'd take to get Luzardo lol.

Even worst case for strider... 3 starters are all that's required for the postseason, so as long as fried, sale, and Morton/lopez/waldrep (I have big dreams for him), braves should be fine. Hell, 2021 didn't have anything close to that

Yeah but that’s dangerous if 2 of your top 3 have injury issues often and the third is over 40. I am huge on Waldrep but would like him to get a full year in the minors if possible

Agreed, it would have to be someone with some control and we’d probably have to add some pieces. Don’t even know who but can’t imagine the Marlins would trade a big piece like that to us.

That 3 is probably more than fine. But Sale has had injury issues, Charlie is 40, and Fried hasnt been the product of perfect health. I think you could put Lopez as the 4th in that scenario. For the postseason, you just need about 5 innings from a starter. Our bullpen is more than deep enough to cover that. I mean, last night we didnt even use Minter, and had Pierce Johnson available for the 10th inning.

Never going to develop our own pitching if we keep trading it for rentals. AJSS is an incredible prospect that wouldnt have gotten higher than AA if he was on most teams last year. Dont penalize him in your mind because he was pushed aggressively and didnt set the world on fire in the majors immediately. He just needs reps to improve the consistency of his pitches. He can throw 9 great sliders but if he hangs the 10th one that can go 400+ feet in the majors.

I agree he's a very high potential prospect... but he's still a prospect and we are one of the best two teams in baseball... winning is the goal more than developing prospects now. Also, he needs much more seasoning in the minors... he won't be getting development he needs getting killed in the majors. I'm also not penalizing him for anything... I'm suggesting we use his high value as part of a trade to get another proven difference maker with a bit of control.
