In my mind, the only way to fix the playoffs is to scrap the wildcard and division rounds and have a 15-game mini-season among the 6 teams that make the playoffs. Five 3-game series playing each team, and each series is double elimination, meaning that if you win the first two games you don't have to play the third. The top two teams with the best series' record make the CS. Tiebreaker is overall record.

The other thing I see wrong with the playoffs in the modern era is that it's played completely differently than the regular season. You don't see that in any other sport. This will make teams use their their entire starting staff and should favor the deeper teams.

And have the thing in Omaha (or pick a neutral site) then the final series like it is now - back and forth between the top two cities. Of course, it is more likely that a bat flies out of my ass before MLB does something like this.

The best team winning is not a factor in their decisions about the playoffs. Only how much money they generate from the playoffs. Any option that results in less money for MLB will not even be considered.
