For catchers, yes. After 2015 Gattis will be 29. Same age Mac was.

But he doesn't have remotely as much wear and tear on his knees as McCann did at 27. Evan's only played 157 professional games at catcher. McCann had played over 1000 by the time he was Gattis' age. For that reason, I think Evan could stick into his early 30s, maybe well beyond, provided he continues to develop.

Maybe but he did non-baseball related things and wasn't in playing shape. He's already had issues staying healthy thus far. And he's really big at 6'4 230. Being big makes it harder on your knees.

    Like janitorial work?

Gattis is coming into being a professional athlete relatively late in game, he's still learning about conditioning and keeping himself in shape.

I worry more about him playing too 'hard' and not protecting his body over the course of a season.

Janitoring while not hard on the knees or back.

Gattis has plenty of prime playing time in front of him. Whether or not he learns how to adjust to major league pitching is the only questions.

As Hawk said, Gattis wont have near the wear/tear that Mac did.

I hope CB is catching by then though.

You have no clue how he'll age. Just cause he wasn't squatting doesn't mean anything for long term health.

If Gattis produces, then I figure it's more likely him and Bethancourt are splitting time together three years from now (something like 60-40 maybe). If Bethancourt is playing the majority behind the plate, then Gattis will likely be used more in the outfield again with a few games at first. Plus I expect we'll continue to carry three catchers (Joey T might end up our third catcher starting next year).

No. He was awarded the run on interference by Mac.
