King and SD avoid arb with a deal with a mutual option for next season. Not sure if that disrupts the idea of trading him?

I think Cease is going to be a Brave. Just like Profar was always the best fit in LF, Cease has always been the best fit in the rotation.
As long as Baldwin is not the piece going to SD the cost will be fine. It might sting to read the names, but it will be fine.
That option is meaning less. If he has an excellent year then he will decline it and if he tanks then the team will decline it.

Mutual options are usually just a way to push some of the cash down the road as a buyout.
Another "insider" claiming to have a source that the Braves are intensifying talks with two teams - he seems to be saying that if the Cease talks fall apart, the second team is a pivot for AA.
I think Baldwin and Caminiti are both no go's, everybody else is on the table.

Am I the only one who’d rather have Lopez than Cease?

Lopez is where I include Baldwin with no hesitation.

Lopez has a contract for 3 years at $22M per season.
Castillo squarely in his decline years is owed $22M for the next 3 years with another $22M vesting option.
These are much different propositions than a 29 year old Cease for 1 year at $14M. Baldwin should not be in play for any of these names. Crochet was a maybe...these options are all hard no.
