The Congressional Budget Office tracks authorizations of appropriations that have specified expiration dates and identifies, annually, appropriations that are provided for authorizations that have expired or that will expire by the end of the current fiscal year. For this report, CBO identified 1,264 authorizations of appropriations that expired before the beginning of fiscal year 2024 and 251 authorizations that are set to expire before the end of the fiscal year. CBO also found that $516 billion in appropriations for 2024 was associated with 491 expired authorizations of appropriations.

Well we have millions of non citizens draining resources so it’s hard to seperate that from a true plan.

But healthcare system has gotten worse since its introduction. But I don’t believe it’s because the idea is bad. Its execution and the fact we have tens of millions of freeloaders putting pressure on the system.

There is a lot of waste in health care.

Simultaneously, public health is one of the greatest success stories of public policy. Child mortality rates for example were about 30% 100 years ago and have dropped mostly due to public health measures. The private sector to be sure has made a large contribution. But this is mainly a public health policy success story.

More recently we have had a major public health policy failure story in the form of U.S. life expectancy dropping well below other countries. Interestingly, this is also a blue state/red state story, with life expectancy diverging between the two groups of states.

I think Make America Healthy Again is a great slogan. More than that it actually puts its finger on an important problem.
