Good article on Francoeur. Didn't realize he was pitching a bit these days. Having a good year at the plate too! Interesting....

How incredible is the young talent on the Braves roster? ESPN did their franchise player draft and 4 braves were picked in the top 30. Thats incredible.

Freeman and Teheran were locks. Kinda shocked they selected Simmons and Heyward that high. Since it was a wide range of people drafting, they weren't consistent. One guy even "drafted" Molina, who I believe is 31 years old.

Heyward taken before Freeman. Love it. But no love for Justin?

Both kind of make sense, Simmons is the best defender in the game, super young and showed signs of power last year. Heyward is very up and down but if he's the Heyward of the last 2-3 weeks then he's going to belong in that convo, especially if he keeps stealing bases....he does need to hit for more power though, a 360 SLG % isn't going to cut it.
The Atlanta Braves signed Nick Markakis for 4/45 - Never forget 12/3/2014

"Klay Thompson > James Harden" - Heyward

"Chris Bosh is the MVP of the Miami Heat" - Heyward

"Hibbert is better than Dwight Howard"- Heyward

    No one.

Wood, Julio, Minor were penciled in.

Then you have Harang, Hale, Floyd, as well.

    Simmons isnt that crazy.

He's arguably the best defensive player in baseball, and still fairly young, only 24 i believe.

Heyward depends what player you get but when you factor in his base running, elite defense, he's up there for sure.

Simmons isn't a huge shock. I just don't know I put an all defense guy in the top 30. Tho, if you do it, it is probably going to be a SS.

I would not really care what his slugging % is if he gets on base at a good rate. We have plenty of power with Freeman/Justin/gattis/laird. We just need them hitting 2-3 run homers.

I read on fangraphs today the braves have the best offense vs southpaws and second worse vs right handed pitching. Clearly this points to a need for more lefty bats. La Stella is a good start.

I don't know what's sadder...Francoeur pitching or that team having to already use him 5 times this season.

Def. looking like a dumb view by me. THough pitching in SF does help.
    A 237 BABIP against won't last and his sub 1 BB/9 likely won't either.

    Nightengale of USA Today

Veteran pitcher Tim Hudson still can't believe he never won a title with all of that talent a decade ago in Oakland. And any thoughts of winning a ring in Atlanta quickly vanished when the Braves barely showed interest when he became a free agent.

"It was made pretty clear to me the Braves didn't want me back,'' Hudson, 38, tells USA TODAY Sports, noting the Braves' initial offer was so low, he didn't even bother to counter.

"After what I had done for them, it was kind of a slap in the face.''

I hope Chipper slaps him in the face now. What were we supposed to do? We had quite a core of young pitchers, and nobody but message board know it alls could have forseen our disastrous spring. Huddy probably wanted more money than the Braves wanted to throw at a 38 year old.

Where was this kinda talk a few months back? Looks like he's pretty comfortable in San Francisco.

It made sense at the time not to bring Huddy back. In hindsight though the move looks bad. Too bad that foresight is not possible at the time.

Yeah, he will likely play some LF, 3B,and 1B. Think he'll be in left until Harper comes back and they have to decide between dropping Espinosa or Span

    Hudson:

Guess there's no mending fences between those two. Wonder if Chipper never really cared for him, or if he's just not willing to let that mascot first pitch kerfuffle go.
